How to pick a new market to dominate

Hey all,

What metrics do you recommend to follow when choosing a new market to dominate on Google?

-Amount of competing websites

-Amount of monthly searches

What numbers do you recommend? Do you suggest anything else to look at?

    I'll look at both. A decent number of searches with low competition.

      If you find something relatively high search and low comp, you may also want to check on the # of existing inbound links to the top ranking sites. Too many links, and you won't be able to catch up, because adding a lot of links quickly can be a ranking red flag.

        I personally recommend nothing more than 50,000 competing websites, which you can easily find out on google by typing your keyword in quotation marks.

        As for searches, I assume searches per month, so I recommend that you use Google Keywords tool and type in your keyword, and if there are no more than about 100,000 searches per month, then you have a good niche.

        Please bear in mind this is only my opinion, I am sure other warriors have different ideas, and techniques to help you as well.
