Clickbank refund question

I have written a novel and I have decided to take the advice of fellow warriors and not go the amazon route but sell it as a e-book, and market it myself. My question is: With clickbank, I do know about the refund policy, does this only apply with money making programs and other products. My point is, what is to stop someone from buying my e-book, saving it as a file or reading it and requesting a refund. Is there another policy for novels? If not is there a better avenue I should be taking.

Thanks for all your help and advice!!

David

This is the first time you've ever mentioned that it's a novel, David.

Though personally I think that listing and marketing it on ClickBank would be so deeply inappropriate that I'm struggling for words to describe it, I wish you well with it, whatever you decide to do.

But please don't imagine from the responses to either of your two earlier posts here that any Warrior has knowingly suggested that you should do that, with a novel.

All ClickBank products have the same 60-day refund guarantee, and offering that is a condition of listing a product on ClickBank.

You'd be using ClickBank as a credit-card processor, effectively, and paying them about 9% for the privilege.

It's totally inappropriate solution and location for it, and I feel quite sure that nobody who commented earlier had any idea at all that you were asking about a novel.

I think you should perhaps be looking at CreateSpace (it's owned by Amazon): https://www.createspace.com/

I hadn't seen your earlier thread but reading Alex's response I went off to find it.

Yes, the revelation that you have written a novel (well done BTW)
puts an entire new light on the subject and I am sure would have brought forth far different responses than the ones you received.

Clickbank is just wrong for this I think.

Amazon might be a whole new ball game though.

I'm no expert at writing (or selling) novels but couple of thoughts.
      1. Kindle seems an obvious choice
      2. Ebay do paper books on demand for a cut so maybe consider not just ebook.
      3. Lulu.com do some clever stuff with turning ebooks into paper books "on demand" and I believe they integrate with Amazon
      4. Importantly though pick up on one of the post in your earlier thread which said (to the effect of) "Putting a book with a seller is not marketing. Whatever you do you will need to market the book".
      best of luck

Well done for writing a novel, but going with Alexa and Tony, I can only say do not use Clickbank for marketing your novel.

Apart from 9% that has been mentioned, I think they would be completely inappropriate as a marketing vessel for your project.

I recommend Amazon for this, or something similar as that way you have gone the route that will suit your novel best.

    Hope this helps.

    Rob.

Sorry everyone I thought I originally posted that it was, big tardo move on my part. Even me calling it a novel isnt all that accurate, its more of a question and answer/self help book based on religous topics (was told from an outside source it would fall in the novel category). So amazon would be the way to go then? If you were in my shoes, would you still build a website and point people to the book seeing how any of the amazon services (Kindle, etc.) dont really do much marketing for self publishing, but still somehow want 30% of the profit.

      Sorry again

Use Create Space to get it on Amazon. Add it to Kindle, Nook and some of the other platforms. Build a website/blog to help in promoting... but that is only one avenue of promotion among many others that you should do.

Amazon doesn't help in marketing your book? Are you serious? You might want to take some time and read up on all that Amazon does do in helping to marketing your book.

If this is your first book and you don't have any name recognition, I'd say stop thinking about how big a cut Amazon or anyone else is taking. Go where you'll get the most exposure and leverage. It's much better to get 70% from $10 000 than 100% of $100.
