I currently have domains registered with Name Cheap , Netfirms and Godaddy
today I recieved a letter from a company called Domain Renewal Group asking me to transfer my domains to them.
Why would I want to transfer from registrars where I pay no more than US$10 per year, some are cheaper to an Austrailian company who is going to charge me AU$45 per year.
Being in New Zealand this would cost me $60.
Any one else get a letter from this company

Throw the letter away. It's not exactly a scam as I don't think it's illegal - but it's a predatory business that tries to get you to renew your domain at a very high price.

They must send a lot of mail as I get them for every domain I own - I toss them in the trash as I walk to the house from the mailbox.:p

    Hi.
Yes it is already in the bin .
as soon as I read it I thought there is no way I am going to pay $45 for something you can get for $10 sometimes cheaper
I just wanted to know how many others were getting these letters.
I have 8 domains so I am expecting 8 letters sent to me all of which will be binned

I have read some articles saying that Domain Renewal Group is a scam. They are formerly known as Domain Registry of America. So if you have received any letter from them, bin it immediately.

I get letters in the mail from this or similar companies now and then. Total scam, and it probably works really well for them.

I received an email that asked me to purchase other domain extension instead. The email was threatened me those domain extension will soon purchased by other people and I'll lose it if I don't register with them.

I deleted the mail, of course and immediately, I removed my domain information. After this, I didn't receive the email anymore.

I think domain privacy is very important as when our domain information is exposed to the public, there are chances of receiving those scam mail and it is annoying.

I get a few of these every year (and I'm in France). They've been at it for years, so they obviously get enough 'bites' to sustain their questionable business.

First time 'round I almost fell for it, and it's easy to see how inexperienced website owners could be lured in.
