Recommendations on how to monetize dating blogs

Hi guys,

I have four blogs on which I offer dating advice that I am wondering how to monetize. I didn't get any clicks when I tried Adsense so am now considering CPA offers or CB products. Granted, I am currently only getting about 60 visitors a day on the busiest blog, but working on getting more. The blogs have between 30 odd to over 100 posts.

Thanks for any suggestions anyone can offer.

Do not direct link to offers. Instead offer a free giveaway through an opt-in, build a list, and start email marketing.

Great idea! Not sure why I've been putting off building a list. Guess it's time I started. Thanks for the suggestion.

I really like this suggestion, too. Thank you. Think it's time I stop writing for a while and monetize.

This is an easy one. Depending on the advice you give, you could promote relationship books from Amazon by like Dr. Phil or even Steve Harvey. You could promote sites like match.com and stuff like that. The only thing that sucks about sites like that is there is a free option, and you only get paid if someone becomes a paid subscriber.

Someone might be a free subscriber for months before they go the paid route or never choose to do so, so your commissions might not come for some time. There are also products on Clickbank you can promote. There's a product called "The Magic of Making Up" that has been out for years and apparently sales really, really well. You might wanna check that up.

    Good luck,
    Joey

Here are some successful blogs to model in that niche market:

    1. Relationship Advice, Relationship Coaching Marriage Advice
    2. Official Double Your Dating | David DeAngelo's Double Your Dating

P.S. When I say "model" I do not mean to "copy & paste" things. But study the marketing behind the blog and the things that make them money.

Go for a mix of ads to see which yields the best results: look into PPC ads like Google adwords. The disadvantage is that you may promote competing services. You can filter them out via the google adwords interface though this may be a bit tedious.

You can also look into paid advertising via ad networks, either CPM & CPC. Success with this will depend on the quality & quantity of your traffic, which will determine if you are accepted to the ad networks.

Promoting dating related services, e.g. via affiliate marketing could be a third option (think of dating e-book programs, photography services, gift programs etc...)

Offer a "dating success guide" in exchange for their email, then write an autoresponder course givings more tips.

Mix CPA offers in every now and again recommending the best dating sites.

You can also offer some of the big dating products as well

If I could see your site, I could make better recommendations.

I think that building a list so you could then send out a newsletter with some dating tip content and mix in some CPA offers is a great idea. If you could gather some demographic info when you build your list (age and sex at least) then you could better target your marketing efforts. Once you know more about your audience you can even mix in non-dating offers that your readers would be interested in.

Thank you very much to everyone who took the time to read my message and offer their suggestions and encouragement. It's great having everything written down in the one place as a reference. I know I need to take the next step now and act upon your advice. Not sure why this thought has been so daunting.

Yes, Jessica, you are right. I should put my blog URL in by signature. Will do that when I figure out how to. lol

Thanks again everyone. I really appreciate the help.

To edit your signature you can simply go to User Cp -> Edit Signature.

I think your blog needs an SEO expert. Blogs and sites doesn't naturally attract web traffic. You need to market the site first and continue doing it.

        Thanks for the advice.

Yes, you're right. When I bought the blogs everything was supposed to be included - backlinking, FB fan pages, youtube videos, mini network set up, etc., plus the option of ongoing SEO at a reasonable rate. Unfortunately, I didn't get any of that. The turnaround time was meant to be 7 to 10 days and it was seven months before I got the blogs, and only then because I'd had enough of hearing they'd be ready that day or the next or the following week. I know, I know, I'm stupid to have been that patient! By then the ongoing SEO rate had quadrupled and the guy wouldn't honour the price quoted in his listing. I did the onpage SEO, so that's ok. I removed all the unnecessary plugins on one of the blogs last week and changed a few things and the traffic has dropped way down. I guess it was mainly spammers who were visiting. My next challenge will be to figure out how to stop the auto posts which I never wanted. I'm going to start a new thread on that.

        Thanks again for your help.
