How would you monetize this E-Mail list of 5,000 subscribers?

I have an e-mail list of about 5,000 subscribers. I essentially told them I would be e-mailing them a joke a day. The niche generally consists of middle aged women. Is there a good way to go about monetizing this list? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

The easy answer would be some type of affiliate hard cover dvd of a stand up special or something of that sort but I'm blanking after that.

Just out of curiosity but did you have a plan to monetize it when you started collecting the emails?

Did you mention anything else beside jokes? That makes it trickier, you don't want them to feel they got lied too.

Here is an idea. I think coupons and/or deals of that nature could work well. Start off first by mentioning you found this deal or coupon you thought they would all like. Share it, don't do a strong sales pitch. But do ask if they would like you to share a few deals a week you come across after the joke. Give them time to respond, then hopefully over %50 well respond yes.

Share those results, after the usual jokes, promise never to promote anything bad, and then continue on from there. They'll be happier, knowing they had a choice in the matter.

Edit: On that note, you could also ask them what kind of coupons / deals they are interested in. Maybe once a week or a few times a month, follow up with similar questions to keep track of what they want.

I just typed "joke affiliate offer" into google and came up with a stack of stuff. Every now and then add something as a sig to the email, but make sure you keep the jokes flowing.

How the hell do you get 5,000 middle-aged women who are interested in jokes to subscribe to your mailing list?

You could look up Amazon for joke related books..I am pretty sure there are tons of those on their shelves!

We need more information, like what niche etc because it depends how responsive the list is, you could probably make money from solo e-mail drops.

I think you should monetize based on demographics. It would be hard to sell simply based on jokes-related items. Perhaps you can promote special offers catered to middle-aged women like clothing items or make-ups.

I think trying a demographic based offer is a great idea on this...Great job in building your list though!!! Most people NEVER even get that far.

Middle aged woman...hmmm..Aside from sending them jokes to keep them
young, offer diet info products, relationship tips, and self-improvement.

It's a good thing that you're making them laugh. You're anchoring a happy
emotion with them whenever they open your email.

I bet you have a high open rate?

The only issue I see is if you send the offers along with the joke, they might not
purchase because they're already happy and feeling well.

Maybe send the offers as a separate email broadcast.
