Is 1200.00 Too Much to Pay for Twitter Advertising?

Hey everyone,

I started Twitter. I know a bit behind everyone, but have been busy.

Anyway. I found a Twitter Site, that has a very good following. They allow members to start their own groups.

I tried to start one, but since I am in the marketing biz the owner charges 1200 a year to start a group.

Is that too much?

Since I am a new Twitter-er I was wondering if any of you have done it or currently pay for that type of advertising, and if so has it been profitable for you.

Thanks

Tina

You can pay $100 for someone to build your follower up to 3000

I guess it's worth as long as you do socializing with your follower...

    Hi Tina

Sorry but I think you are looking at Twitter very wrongly ...

I dont believe anyone goes on Twitter to buy anything and I personally dont believe you should use Twitter to sell anything ! I therefore wonder what type of advertising you are looking at ??!!

Twitter for me is all about relationship building over time, I want nothing from Twitter other than for people to get a feel for who 'Dean' really is.. and if they want to see what im doing online they can go to my blog

Where they then can find product recommends such as aweber

You will have no benefit in selling on Twitter.. Unless you get real REAL lucky

Save your money, build your own followers and let them get to know you

    Best of luck

Tina, I'm not completely getting what you are saying. What would this $1200 supposedly get you? And no, I can't imagine that paying $1200 for ANYTHING to do with Twitter would be worth your while - and I make my living off Twitter. The only money that I have paid for anything to do with Twitter was getting a custom Twitter background designed for me.

Other than that, I just built up a lot of followers, and I follow them back...I go on Twitter and talk about press releases, about how to get the media to pick up your press release, about free press release sites vs. paid press release sites...people who need a press release written for themselves, contact me.

There are a lot of people who make a lot of money by being on Twitter but you have to treat it like what it is, like a big social networking site, or an online chamber of commerce. If you try to sell rather than network you won't make money.

I am not trying to sell on Twitter.

I joined just let people get to know me also.

I never intended on selling anything.

I set up my page on the group, started adding blog info, joined a couple of groups, etc,

When I wanted to add my group, it was the owner of the site who assumed that I was marketing.

None of my posts indicated such, as I was doing no self promotion etc.
she visited my website URL, my nutrition blog,

Hence, I just added a premuim membership. Therefore the marketing angle was established in her mind.

The 1200 a year from what I gather includes: establishment of my group, and the owner advertising and hooking it up with like minded groups.

      Thanks, golfing buddy!

From what I'm hearing - there are WAAAAAY better things to spend $1200 on. You can network on your own, for free.

Advertising on 1 site for that price, isnt a really smart move.

$1200 will get you 100's of thousands to millions of hits with ppc.

invest that in payperclick and use good keywords targeted (specific) keywords.

Or just pay high page rank websites (use google toolbar to see pagerank)
to put a link on their site. under the $80 per link.
    It really pays off.
