Site Flipping - Want To Auction Your Site Yourself? Use This Free Methode
- To clean out and focus
- To write, write and write
One of the first days in the new year, we went through our domains and decided which to keep, which to let die and which to sell. The other day I took action on one of the sites to sell.
I wrote to some of my lists which I knew would be interested. I even handpicket a few other people with interests in that field. So I told them facts about the site and that they could email me with their bid before midnight Saturday night.
Do you know how many emails came streaming in?
None! Not one!
Well, later on somebody asked a question through Skype and after my answer, he bid 10 euro. Not bad considered the alternative (nothing), but not that impressing either.
But his questions inspired me. Of course these would be questions other people would have, so I thought: Why not write a blog post about the sale of the domain? And then put the questions on?
And then it hit me:
Why not let people bid on my blog in the comments?
This way everybody would be able to see the highests bid, and it would be timestamped etc. Earlier on I had tried to find a PHP that did all that, because I didn't have time to make one myself.
So once again I send a mail to my list, just a short message, telling them to go to the blog and see the Q & A, and that highest bid right now where 10 euro.
Shortly after people were fighting to get the highest bid, and I ended up selling the site for 250 euro ($330), and both I and the person who purchased it were happy with that deal.
PS my PM system is broken. Sorry I can't help anymore.
