How to start and manage a viral campaign

I'm having a short story written that contains action, adventure and gunfire that will appeal to the tactical, gun, survivalist, doom gloom crowd.
I'll be broken into 12 cliffhanger segments sent out weekly.(first two installments are pretty good) Of course at the bottom will be links to the "Sponsor" of the installment. Various affiliate offers related to content of that installment
I'd like to start setting-up a system for getting the ball rolling and managing it and could use some help. At a minimum I see needing:
List managment system (aweber ect)
Squeeze Page on my site
Fan page with sign-up
???
To get the ball rolling:
Send to my current (small) list
Post on a few forums
"Buzz " Press release
Handful of fiverr facebook/twitter blasts
???
Ideas? Experiences with having something go big?
