One site or multiple sites?

Hey guys, I'm about to start a website for personal enjoyment.

I've made sites and blogs before and know a reasonable amount about the technicalities of seo and website design but I would like some planning advice for this upcoming bigger project.

I am a a professional in an un-named niche and one of the pioneers/most skilled of that niche (not to boast but to indicate the site could be popular).

I have always wanted to have a website set up where I post lessons and tutorials in that niche in media rich venues like videos, embedded audio etc. The level of knowledge I have is very broad over the subject and spans many things which could individually prove to be very popular and substantial enough to warrant their own sites.

Should I separate my niche subjects into separate sites?
Should I have one big megasite instead that could pull in sizeable traffic?

After the site has been established for a year or so, I will be selling info products so should I remove advertising when I do so?

Thanks in advance

I am not an expert but I would go with one website and start with one subject then expand, within time you will build a good site if you keep working on it, that's what I am doing now but I am stuck at the design part as I cannot find the theme that I want and I don't know html lol

    Good luck

      Good luck

I went to college to learn website design and coding. It was quite easy, just a bunch of 7 week courses at only one night a week. After that I started buying website design magazines and made some pro sites.

There's a real problem I have though, I am incredibly insecure and when it came to IM, I would back off when I thought about income too much, it put me off because I didn't believe in myself. I still don't lol.

As far as advertisements - yes you should take them down if you have a product up there. You never want to drive traffic away from your offer.
Sorry, I say niche when it's technically incorrect I suppose since the subject matter is quite large.

Separately, they could all hold ground on their own sites

Thanks for the tip on selling my lesson dvd's

Um, no, I don't know what you mean. How much have you had to drink tonight?

To OP: Depends if you think the people visiting your site will be interested in all of the topics or not. If they'll only be interested in the sub-topics, then I'd split up the sites. It also hedges your bets SEO-wise if you decide to actually get aggressive with link building.

Thanks for the advice, I've made note of it in my diary
