Paypal Dispute - reversal issue

Hi guys,

A few days ago i´ve sold a service in ebay, and received by paypal immediately. Then 2 days afterwards when was the normall day that i use to withdrawn my monthly "salary" from paypal to my account.

A few moments later i received a "claim" saying that paypal was making an internal investigation due to a possible fraudulent payment. to me was ok, i´ve written what they required. on the meanwhile the withdraw was reversed accordingly to paypal status, but in the next day i´ve received an e-mail from paypal saying my funds were transferred and i should received them on the 9th of December. But in the status it says that the withdrawn was reversed and in the claim it says the funds from that order were held.
Then i´ve checked the claim info and to resolve i need to refund, but the funny part is, the funds of that operation are held or coming to my account , sincerely i did not understood and they want me to refund with my own funds while having the funds held?

its really weird, what normally happens in this situations? do i need to pay from my balance while the funds of this operation is being held or i wait until they release the funds so i can pay that out?

This one confused me like hell, since i never had any issue related with claims i´m a bit out of my beach

Thanks for all the help.

Morg.

When you have a dispute, the only monies being "held" is the amount of the dispute.

Lets say you have $110 in your account and the dispute is for $10.

You can't withdraw $110 until the dispute is resolved.
    However, you CAN withdraw $100.

Are you trying to withdraw part of the disputed funds?
Try withdrawing a lessor amount and see if it goes through.

    Good luck,
    Rod

      Hi Rod,

I understand that , my issue is with the refund that i need to give. lets say that operation was 300 bucks, then PP held that money, and then the resolution gives me only options to refund. If that value is being held do i need to refund from my balance (money that does not belong to this operation) and only then they release the holding funds?

      Thanks,
      Morg

When you refund, it will be refunded from the held amount.

      So,
If they will use the holding amount. and i´ve received the message that i don't have funds to cover it, i will assume that the transfer to my bank is successful because right now i don't see that amount either in paypal balance neither in my bank account.

that's why i´m asking. I can charge the PP account and refund it, that's not the issue, the issue is if i will see this operations amount either in my PP or in my bank account.

Your best bet is to call Paypal. We couldn't possibly answer the question as to any irregularities in your Paypal acct.

When a payment is "held" it does not show in your Paypay account total.
If you go to the transaction and look at the detail you will see two items (the payment and a negative equivelent, the hold).

Also if the transaction is held as part of a fraud investigation you may not be able refund as your refund button may not be shown. If the status is "Paypal Investigating" then you can agree to refund but you cannot actually do it. If you have agreed then generally Paypal will refund for you as part of their "fraud" resolution.

If it is a dispute then usually you can refund (as this makes it easier on Paypal). That refund will not change your "paypal Total" if the payment is held.

Of course if you just refund via an agreement with the customer and no involvement with Paypal then it will deduct from your account total.

As previously noted it is good practice to keep sufficient funds in your Paypal account in case of refunds/chargebacks etc. Remember these can be up to 60 days from payment.

At least this has been my experience but the real answer for your specific problem lies with Paypal.
