One Question on Flippa?

Hi All,

I do have a question on a listing which happened on Flippa. It would be great if someone can give the suggestion.

I placed a bid and I won the listing for (Say) $80. Now he specified in description If you using BIN there is free tranfer of domain and hosting, if using bid then (say) $50 applies.

Now he is asking for $130. I am not sure on flippa's terms and condition on this one. So my question is am liable to pay $130 or is it fine with $80.

Thanks in advance.

Regards

So let me see if I got this straight. You didn't use the BIN and purchased the site for $80 and he wants to charge you $50 for transferring the site?

I would contact Flippa before sending this person any money.

      Hi Mike,

You got it correct. I will wait for some more opinion.

To be frank, I missed what ever he put on description as I only check some things in a listing, status of the site in google, just check the seller, amount for bidding, revenue if any, and see site for ones.

Can any person demand money other than the price in the listing and/or success fee?

        Hi Mike,

Just now only I checked your link to Flippa. I see you are an experienced seller in Flippa. Thanks for the suggestion.

I will clarify it ones again with seller and then move on to contact Flippa if required.

        Regards

The key thing is that you said "domain transfer and hosting". There's no obligation for a seller to give you hosting, unless they chose to include that as a bonus.

    However...
if you won the auctions for $80, then the seller would be obligated to transfer the domain and site files to you for that price, and you would use your own hosting.

That's assuming the seller is on the up and up, which is the first thing you should be concerned about. Does he have any feedback there?

He is just a starter as a seller. That is the reason why I didnt call flippa for informing the same. Mistake happens. But he consulted with someone regarding this and asked me to send only the auction amount.

His PMs where too rude, 'Either his way or highway' attitude and that was enough for me to show to flippa and ban him. Anyway if he was expert there and doing the same thing, I would have reported it.

Now everything went fine. Site is up and running from my end.

      Thanks for suggestion.

      Hi,

I know exactly how to transfer and I too have my on hostings, thats why I asked him, is he charging that amount for domain transfer. His reply was too rude.

He is a new guy there, seems like a hard working person, so I didnt inform flippa and after sometime I got a PM for send the auction amount alone. He consulted with someone and apologized for the issue.

Now the site is up and running from my end.

      Thanks for suggestion.

      Hi Kevin,

Here the case is different. From flippa's end there is no such fee other than the success fee. We only have to pay auction amount and success fee if applicable. But in this listing he specified some amounts in description and he believed I am liable to pay that. Which is again flippa rules.

He understood the mistake, and asked me to pay only the auction amount.

Now the site is up and running.

      Thanks for the suggestion.

      Regards.

      Thanks for helping everyone.

Glad to hear that the site is up and running! Flippa is really the only place to use for buying and selling established sites imo. Good luck with the new site!

If say you have hosting with hostgator unless you have huge files they will do it for free. So all you need to do is ask for the domain to be transferred and for the seller to give you the files.

What he is charging you for is an extra service that you don't need.
