Is there a place where people are looking for writers?

What's the best place to find people who need good article writers who are just starting out and need to make a name for themselves to get some customers?

I do article writing and I kind of got lucky when I started out and got a few good loyal people who buy from me regularly so I didn't really have to go looking for them much.

My cousin is looking to start out as well now and I wanted to help her out by promoting her a little bit.

so...is there a place where she should go? Also, if you need good articles written by a very smart young lady who is just beginning in college and wants to make some extra cash (from Michigan, USA...Native English speaker/writer) let me know.

I'm removing my signature so people don't think I'm just promoting my own writing gigs, lol.

Like post there? Isn't it $20 to get your services listed? seems like with how m any people need native English speaking writers there should be a better way.

I've looked in the section where people post that they want writers but most of them don't seem to reply to PMs and when they do they are only willing to pay like $.003 per word which is more in the range of what I pay people off shore when I need fairly low quality work done.

Have her join here and maybe offer a special to get started.

I have read many, many posts on here where people who hate to write are looking for a decent article writer and a decent (meaning low) price.

But quality has to be there, too. So she will have to come up with a balance to determine her price for her work.

If she joins here and has a website, she can have a special for Warriors only and put the link in her signature.

Then she can make helpful posts on here about writing.

    Good luck to her.

Like you, I was pretty lucky to find a few loyal customers when I first started out. However, I do have a few places where I work to fill in the gaps. I think these may be good places to start for your friend. The pay is kinda low but it pays the bills between client projects.

    Textbroker - Unique content - Textbroker.com
Content Authority - The Content Authority
CloudCrowd (they host their job on Facebook, so she will need a Facebook acct) - CloudCrowd on Facebook | Facebook

When I'm really desperate, sometimes I'll do work for London Brokers. The pay sucks though. - London Brokers - Freelance Writing Jobs

I also scoured Craigslist for jobs. She can take the shortcut and get daily job updates from Freelance Writing Gigs - Freelance Writing Jobs | A Freelance Writing Community and Freelance Writing Jobs Resource

Another place to look is the Problogger job board - Jobs for Bloggers - ProBlogger Job Board

I would also scour forums and talk to people looking for workers. But, as you say, most people want super cheap content and then get mad when the content is low quality and doesn't convert. However, every once in awhile you do come across some gems.

She may also want to think about writing articles and selling them on sites like Constant Content - Buy Unique Articles, Order Web Site Content, Hire Freelance Article Writers and SEO Content Writers - Constant Content - Custom Website Content

Hopefully, this will get your friend off to a good start.

      This list rocks.

My favourites from the ones listed are Constant Content and CloudCrowd. Constant Content is hard to get started at if you're a bad writer, and CloudCrowd has a little more leeway but pays much less. Still, I've made four figures of income between those sites.

The majority of my income usually comes from private clients, though. The Warriors for Hire section is a great, great place. Fun fact: I'm relaunching my writing service, and you know what the very first place to come to mind when I thought about where to get more private clients again was? The Warriors for Hire section. It's done that well for me in the past, and I trust it to do that well for me again. Wholehearted recommendation here.

Oh, and if the $20 fee is a problem, let her know that it really does pay off within a job or two (even at a penny a word). It gets you visibility and ongoing work as people later go to search the archives of the forum even when you drop off the front page.

I also feel the need to remind you that you can't necessarily make her career for her. Pointing her to this thread and this forum is a great idea, but she's going to have to explore these sites herself and put her own willpower into action. I think every successful freelance writer has at least three friends they've tried to help get started before... but it's up to the friend to make their own career in the end.

ArwenTaylor gave you some really good resources above. I agree with pp about posting a WFH ad. I did it, and the return on investment was awesome. I got 3 or 4 regular private clients who pay MUCH more than the content mills using the WFH section.

The trick is to run a special, write an effective sales page for your services (research others who have lots of replies and page views BEFORE you post) and price yourself slightly lower.

There are TONS of people floating around this forum who desperately need good, quality writing from someone who delivers on time and doesn't flake out. You just have to sell them that you're their writer.

Lots of good suggestion here.. one thing I may add, as someone who looks for writers in a particular market that is not the usual 'weight loss', 'make money' and other stuff for which there are hundreds of people competing, it may be prudent to develop a specialty in areas where there may not be much competition. I myself have a hard time finding people who can write on my subject matter... and it is not obscure by any means, it is rather ordinary. Not sure why not too many people want to write on it, and those that need content in this are are people who make big bucks from sales.

In case anyone is interested in what market this is: Real Estate and Finance.

  • As some of our mates advised you to post in Hire Section in this forum and if you want some other forums just go to freelancer.com,fiverr.com,odesk.com,blackhatworld. com and soo on.But you make sure that if you want to get some customers be prepared with the sample article in such a way that by seeing the article they have to hire you or get some articles from you.

Brad, have you ever heard of Constant Content? Look at the price in which some articles start at: Buy Unique Articles, Order Web Site Content, Hire Freelance Article Writers and SEO Content Writers - Constant Content - Custom Website Content

That website is one of many (and I'm talking butt-loads) where writers start out earning way more than $8 -- a sum that you make your writers work up to!!

Now, just what are you guaranteeing... again?

I thought what he was trying to say was pretty obvious. For a new writer with little to no experience and no clients to get consistent work from, iwriter is the place to start. Do they make a lot less? Heck to the yes. But the newbie writers that are going there are the same ones that wouldn't be able to earn a penny on constant content.

I view iwriter as a good place to start and build your skills. Buyers have to know for prices that low they aren't getting a work of art, so less than optimal writers can still survive. While working there, I'm pretty sure they get rated as well. From there, they can improve and eventually be ready to move on to the higher paying websites.

I don't think that's necessarily true at all. Just because you're a new writer doesn't mean you're a bad writer...Not in the least. In fact, I'd say for most people who actually *want* to write for money, you'd have to probably enjoy writing and be halfway decent at it.

Of course, this excludes crappy ESL writers (Not at all saying that every ESL writer is crappy).

Plus, Constant Content isn't at all the only place to start aside from iWriter, and to say you wouldn't be able to earn a penny on Constant Content is probably not quite true. Obviously I know you're exaggerating, but what I'm saying is that on iWriter you don't start out making much more than pennies, so why not work your way up on a site where the most you can make per article is more than $8?

With a WFH thread you can charge as much as you want. It's a simple process...Even a site like Text Broker, oDesk or any other site will pay more starting out if you have any writing skills at all and a nickel's worth of luck.

Originally Posted by Joe128139 View Post

The only problem with this is that from a buyer's point of view, one of the main perks of using iWriter is that you're allowed to deny payment to the writer if you don't like the article, no questions asked, and many of them DO expect 'works of art'. There are no set rules for what constitutes a denial of payment, it's entirely up to the buyer's discretion. So, yeah you will likely be able to survive, but if you had any joy in writing before, just wait until you don't get paid for your work.

I mean, I get the draw of iWriter...There's lots of work available and you do get paid something, generally, for what you write. But to say that it's the best or most profitable place to start, hands down, for a writer without clients isn't true at all.

If you're a halfway decent writer at all, you can do much better than 'dirt cheap'. Yes, even starting out with no clients.

          Kindly,
          - Stephen

I made this post in another thread: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post4967505

This works, even for a complete beginner. You can write articles for $2, $5, $10 or whatever a time, for one of the many places online where they pay you to do so, or you can bypass all that and go straight to earning good money immediately.

You don't need years of experience, a track record with many satisfied clients stretching back forever, or a long list of glowing testimonials. All that might help, but it isn't essential.

I helped someone go from having no article writing experience to being an article writer who earned $25 for a 500 word article with no in between steps. Within three months that person was charging $35 an article, and getting more than enough work too.

That person followed the plan outlined in the link above. That was it, nothing else. It works, plain and simple.

      John.
