Challenge: How The Heck Would YOU Market This?

Hey peeps,

I have another new offline business client - WooHOOOO for me )))

First and foremost.. my sincere thanks go out to Andrew Cavanagh, Peter Sanchez, Michael Silvester, John Spangler and Tim Phelan who have all offered great WSO's or products that I have highlighted, dog eared and put to work that have allowed me to not only jump start this revenue stream by sharing their expertise but all have provided valuable direction to people here on the forum.

My Confession: I haven't left the US in about 15 years..sad, I know! AND I do all my marketing focused here in the US even though I know there are other international flavors of Google and the such.

My Challenge: The Business that I got the job for is actually based in Italy, but the owner lives here in the US half the year then returns to Italy for half a year to run the tourist based seasonal business.

I think he has a great niche in the travel industry and we bounced ideas around the other day and created a great game plan including the opportunity for a continuity based plan. However, he really wants to market heavily to the UK for search engine results because it's so easy for the folks from the UK to "hop over" as he puts it.

What is the best way to educate myself on how to create a marketing plan that includes UK search results?

I know there are many international warriors here and if you would share your thoughts and resources I would really appreciate the insights!

The principals are the same, so don't worry too much! Depending on the strategies you are going to employ, you should be able to use most of the same techniques without changing much of anything.

For example - If someone from the UK wants to rent an Italian villa, they will search google for Italian villa rental... someone from the US will do the same.

If you are doing any forum marketing or backlinking, you will simply want to focus on the places that UK travelers hang out online.

I suggest that you create a solid marketing plan/outline that you are happy with. Then you can fill in the details based on your research and plan. IM is Im is IM... the details MIGHT change, but the concepts are the same.

Google estimates only 5% of surfers are using the
search function at any time - so it makes sense to
establish a presence on websites your target people
might be using.

I would look at age and income-level first. I don't
know your offer but it seems to me you might want
to only be marketing at the affluent - which requires
a little sophistication but can pay off big.

Thanks for the feedback. Loren, love that you are local - I'm a UMass grad (well, Stockbridge School of Agriculture at Umass Amerst) I'll have to work to bring my education in the business of horses online

Yes, it is a very tight niche that uses this travel destination mostly doctors, lawyers, high end business men and all of course their families.
