Hi,
I've decided to begin buying traffic, as I haven't been happy with the amount, and the time it takes, to generate free traffic.

I'm buying solos, and classifieds (I think I need to ditch the classifieds tho.)

Now I'm going to start placing banners.

I got some idea of how to go about it, but would like advice from some of you more experienced warriors.

I have a few questions:

1. cost per impression or cost per click?

2. What size banner might work best?

3. Best placement service online?

4. Good way to build your list?

5. Please share any other advice any of you have

Thanks in advance

If you're looking at doing banner traffic I would HIGHLY recommend Russ Ruffino's Endless Traffic Tap course. He goes over several killer ways to use banners to your advantage and get extremely cheap clicks.

Take a look at buysellfads[dot]com and projectwonderful[dot]com. Both allow you to target who sees your ad by letting you pick the site your ad will appear on. Match the site's demographics with your offer's and you're on the right path.

As far as the banner itself, try to make it stand out so it grabs the attention of the visitor. A lot of people have trained themselves to ignore banners because they're all over the place. But if you're able to put something in your banner that makes it stick out, you have a better chance of getting them to click through to your offer.

Good luck! Hope that helps a little bit. Seriously though, Endless Traffic Tap...

You were speaking about paid banner advertisment.
I have tried free one - on traffic exchanges and free SafeLists.
Not much luck. Yes, there are clicks, but people are mostly clicking
to earn credits (with no intention to actually research the site,
not even speaking - about buying something there)
or just for interest. If I'm promoting affiliate products (as many
others do in the same time) - it is nearly impossible to sell or get
a lead this way, you're just promoting your main affiliate company.
Free offers may deliver few sign ups, but it's too time consuming.

Yeah, I wondered about that. I know you can get tons of clicks on any link by giving an incentive for people to click it.

The sites Eric suggested allow you to choose the website your banners are on, so I would think they would be only from the sites visitors.

I want sign-ups for my list, promoting Bryan Winter's Siphon list building system (check it in my sig) and figure many in the IM niche have seen it, so I'm thinking about banners on sites that are on the 'edge' of the MMO niche.

I think the trick is to make (or get made) your own banners that will entice click throughs. You know banners that haven't been seen before.

The traffic looks to be pretty inexpensive...think I'll do a few more campaigns as well

Jerryl, another option for testing banners is Google Adwords. Stick to the content network, and you can actually choose which pages, subdirectories or whole sites your banners (although they call them 'image ads') appear on. Depending on the desirability of the page, you can often get image ads for ~$1 cpm ($1 per 1,000 exposures).
