Niche Selection Hurdle

Hey fellow Warriors! I have been lurking silently on WF for about 3 or 4 months now, reading and learning, I have also bought a WSO that was very informative. I started learning about Affiliate Marketing probably about 2 years ago when I joined a membership site that supposedly taught step by step techniques on doing internet marketing. I can honestly say that I have learned more on this site that I ever did on others so thank you!

The reason for this post is I am looking for some guidance on Niche Selection. The one hurdle I can't get over is selecting a niche that I am truly interested in, one that I feel like I would enjoy taking consistent action on. When some of you were first starting out or even seasoned pro's how did you go about selecting your niche (regardless of whether it was profitable or not).

This is such a frustrating roadblock because I feel like once I find that niche that I am passionate about, I can then use what I have learned from this forum to start my site.

I am not asking for niche ideas or for you to tell me what to market I am interested in how you come up with those ideas that you market AND that you are passionate about.

Thanks in advance for your responses!

I'm a little confused. Why would you need to "find a niche that [you] are passionate about". You must know what your interests are. Let's say one of them has to do with mountain bike racing.

Just keyword research "mountain bike racing" and see if you can dig deep and find a niche that has high volume searches and relatively low competing pages. Then go for it.

Try going over to Dmoz.org and going through their category structure there. In particular the Hobbies section. That's what I did years ago.

Select a few subjects that jump out at you (peak your interest/passion) and go to the Google Adwords keyword tool, or the tools.seobook.com or anything else similar and input those keywords to get a feel for the search volume.

There are so many niches and microniches available, and it has been a long process to get myself out of the "jack of all trades master of none" mindset. That will kill you financially and motivationally in the long run.

There is also a couple of WSO's available that give you niche category lists. Don't have links to them right off the bat, but some were fairly recent.

I think you have the process in reverse. It's likely you already know what you're passionate about. Take that and start your market and niche research to figure out how you might monitize that passion.
