Password protect the front end of the website!

Hello Warriors,

I'll be installing a wordpress site in a subdirectory, however the client wants that when type in the URL for the subdirectory, it asks for a user name and password.

After entering the right details, that's the moment that the website will be viewed.

Please help me on this.

I will truly appreciate your help.

Sincerely,
George B.

Requiring a visitor to login with password without offering something first is not such a hot idea. Of course if the user is going there because they have already purchased something and are going there to enter a membership site or download a purchased digital product. that's a different story. If that is the case, you can protect the subdirectory through Cpanel, that is easy to do..

A more elegant solution would be a membership type of plugin where you can protect certain parts of the website, being posts or pages.. or parts of posts and pages..
There is an excellent free solution for that, S2Member plugin.. search for that in the wordpress dot org section for WP plugins. I use that on a couple sites.. works like a charm and it is free to use. Unless you feel like buying the premium version or just donating a few bucks...
