What's the best business model?

As mentioned above in the title I am looking for advice of anyone really who is successful in IM.

By successful I mean anyone who is making a living from it, you don't have to be earning 5 figures a month to be considered a success.

What I am wondering is, what would you consider the BEST internet business model

  • small one product affiliate sites
  • Larger authority sites
  • affiliate marketing for physical or digital products
  • Adsense sites
  • Starting a membership site
  • Creating a forum
  • Creating and selling your own ebooks
  • A dropshipping site
  • etc......
Interested in hearing some experienced views

Cheers,
Sean

Do you find one site dedicated to each product works the best for you or would you advise me go with a big site promoting a few different produts that are all closely linked?

Do you make a full time income through just affiliate marketing?

      Thanks again,
      Sean

I've seen all of those (except dropshipping) do well for people. In terms of IM (I do mostly SEO) I found the membership model to work best for me. It all depends on your unique selling point. If you have an idea for a product, service or website that sets you apart then all of those can work. Personally though I think the longest road for many people is the adsense route. they jump into it because they don't have anything to sell or an idea to use online but most only end up making pennies.

          Thanks man,

Right now I'm thinking more towards either an online shop, dropshipping type site

          OR

A big authority site promoting different products that are all closely linked, targeting long tail keywords for each post/page for each individual product

          Any suggestions?

I think eBooks are the best business model, however, launching an eBook needs to be executed flawlessly, without alot of planning, dedication, and passion. I say this because, from what I've experienced, there is really significant competition just about everywhere. You really have to be able to stand out above the rest, and prove your product is one worth buying--a task that can be really quite difficult without a bit of a positive reputation and brand.

      Cheers Soldier man,

Is this the type of business model you focus mainly on?

How much of the whole process do you outsource eg., researching the niche of the ebook, writting the ebook, writing the sales copy, marketing, etc..?

        Hey Sean,

I'm constantly exploring, experimenting, and testing new things.

As for eBook creation, I've only written one, and I leveraged a very powerful partnership for a 50/50% split. Where I gave up a significant amount on each sale, I've made up in tactically aligning myself with a great partner, and friend, who was already very established in the niche.

I didn't outsource anything...anything at all. I have yet to really test this in a future project, but, if I ever do outsource eBook creation, I wouldn't pay nearly what is being charged by many. (I know this isn't what people want to hear who have eBook creation businesses, and can get away with charging $600-$1,000+)....

(Edit: My mistake. It's been awhile since I wrote and began selling my eBook course. I did outsource graphic and sales page design. I did attempt some content outsourcing, however, that was a BIG learning experience. That was basically because I was a little lazy, not that I wasn't capable...I essentially ditched the outsourcer's work, pulled in a partner, and we took care of it ourselves. So, yes I did outsource, but in the end, very very little of the outsourced work was actually used. Lesson learned.)

Instead, as a tip, if I ever decide to have the actual written content outsourced, I'd lay out each chapter and title and treat each as individual articles to be outsourced that way.

Now, say, for 10 chapters, you could pay as little as $100 for an entire book, if each article was outsourced for $10. Throw all those articles together, add some of your own content, and, poof, you have an eBook--at roughly 1/5th or 1/6th of what eBook creation businesses are charging.

Some do good work, and can charge that much. But, no matter what end you are on, the ultimate goal should be to provide as much value as possible. If I'm a buyer, rest assured I'll be looking for the best possible profit, for the highest return in quality. If I can have 10 articles written, combine them into an eBook, and pay a fraction of the price while maintaining quality, I'm all for it.

      Take care,
