Using Automated Blog Content

I have setup many "auto blogs" in the past and I really cannot complain with the results. At one point I had an auto blog feeding from Yahoo! News RSS in about 15 different subjects that made about $1.50/day from AdSense.

Of course, that was a year or so ago. Google and other search engines have probably changed their algo's to work against you :p

Going with your initial assumption seems to work best. Combine the two while making sure you continue to regularly add unique content.

Totally automated content may provide short-term listing success, but in the long run you will need unique content to maintain your SE listings.

Carl is right in that it's usually a short-term strategy, but not always. The SE's and changing algo's usually catch on, many times quite fast though you can sometimes slip duplicates through for a while.

I've been interested in auto-blogging for awhile, but I've always been too worried that it would be a waste of my time setting it up. I'm pretty happy that I never ventured into the auto-blogging world, because I ended up spending my time on what I think are more profitable long term ventures.

With auto content, you always get your content from well known sites like yahoo news, yahoo answers etc. So I always wonder, why should a search engine choose your content rather than theirs. But also see lots of posts regarding to this in here, and people seem to be happy about it. I might also give it a try.

Autoblogs by nature are always posting so always 'fresh' content. Once google finds out it's not so fresh, you may get de-indexed, but the idea of autoblogging is to create a farm and to always be adding to it. I have some autoblogs that are still going strong almost 9 months in and others that were just a flop from the start. I do believe a variety of content is needed to make them a "success".

Can we have success with using RSS blog and news feeds? When you mention about variety of content, are you saying mixing video and articles or otherwise?

How do we avoid Google de-indexing? Only unique content? I see many use auto blogging, can you generate a lot of traffic and use it like a traffic hub to funnel the traffic to an opt-in in another site?

I was under the impression that automated content, because it's duplicate content, generally doesn't perform well with the SEs.

From reading lots and lots of posts here and at DP, I get the impression that any 'shortcut' or 'easy way' only lasts for a little while, and the SEs get wise, either to the tactic or to the specific site, and suddenly it's not doing well any more.

Is automated content worth it (ie: can it be sustainably profitable)? If so, what's the best method for using it? (I'm assuming that it has to be integrated with 'real work' keeping the blog up with natural, unique content.)
