No nonsense blueprint to kill your job and live from your passion with an online business in 2012
Ok, this post will be irrelevant to some of you who already have a successful profitable business up and running, but I know for sure that there are people here who are learning their way so I'm absolutely confident that it will be very helpful.
This blueprint is very straightforward. It's based on the assumption that you only need 1,000 true fans to make a comfortable living from your business.
In the article "1000 true Fans" Kevin Kelly explains that 1,000 true fans who spend $100 with you over a period of a year represent a $100,000-a-year business.
Aim to acquire 5,000 subscribers in the next 12 months with this blueprint because I believe it's better to aim high.
But first, a little bit of goal-setting. Take a 3 x 5 card and write "I have 5,000 subscribers in the _______ niche by day/month/2012."
Oh and if you don't know what niche to choose, here are 4 to choose

1. How to make money online
2. How to lose weight and stay fit
3. How to attract and seduce women
4. How to profit from Forex
Pick one and stick to it for the next 12 months.
Your lead page
I'm not going to explain how to create a squeeze page. What I want to cover is your bait or what you're going to offer. I see too many generic, free reports. It's good to offer something unique--actually your BEST little trick. This is what I did few years ago with my report on how to reduce the number of unsubscribes. At the time, nobody was talking about this aspect of list building.
When your lead page is ready, make sure you become OBSESSED with driving traffic to it and ONLY to it. Forget blogs, or trying to get into another niche or websites until your reach your magic number of 5,000 within 12 months. Do it. That will change your life.
Driving traffic
Ok, if you have some cash, then honestly the simplest way to drive that traffic is to pay for solo ads. A lot of people do it. Every month, save a bit of cash ($250-$1,000) and buy solo ads from someone who has a targeted list. This is your fastest way to financial independence. But you must do it consistently until you reach your target.
If you don't have the money, you can use free traffic. I always get the same question: How can I drive free traffic to my website? My answer is that they already know it but they just jump from one strategy to another. The trick is to stick to no more than three strategies for at least 12 months. Over that period of time, you will become better and better, and fine-tune your system. Consistency is key. Article marketing only works if you stick to releasing a certain numbers every week, if not daily. The same thing goes for joint ventures.
Monetization
It's important from day one your subscribers know you'll email them every work week. Send a mix of content and promo. Don't be afraid to sell, and stick to your schedule.
In my humble opinion, most people fail in online business because of a lack of consistency. Repetition of simple tasks is the real secret not more information or techniques.
Document the key task you'll do on a daily basis and stick to them, day in and day out.
I know it can be frustrating to see slow results, but trying frantically to see dramatic results immediately is what makes you buy product after product.
It's only when you reach a critical mass and experience that things will accelerate. It's called "momentum".
