Hi all

I am a little inexperienced so bear with me please.

I have developed a website through word-press which I am trying to monetize with no success so far.

first up.
I am getting roughly 50 visits a day but about half of them are people leaving comments. I have tons of comments and I'm not sure if this is a good thing or not. Some of them are relevant to my niche but some are not. Should I accept them?

Secondly.

I have an opt in box for people to leave their mail address and name, I have had no success with this either and I think it's a bit weak. I think I need a squeeze page but to be honest I'm not really sure how to get one together. Is a squeeze page basically the final landing page where people buy? If they click through my affiliate link to the product is that not the squeeze page?
Can anyone help me on how to develop a squeeze page? I am lost here!

Also
Presell content is something I have been trying to achieve. When I wrote my first few articles I put too many links in I think. I have tried to scale this down, provide solid information relating to the keyword search and put a link at the bottom of the article (you will see evidence of all this.)
I want to monetize the site and realise that sales pitches and adverts for products don't really work very well.

Over all I have done alot of work but need to focus more on the tech issues like squeeze page and developing a list and of course good content.

Last thing...Sorry about this!
The site was on page one for a month, suddenly it appeared on page 10 and is not sat on page 6. Is this normal for a site that's only a few months old?

I could use some help as you can see. Some mentoring would be good though the bucks are a little short at the moment.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

    Hi Marcus,

To give you a little clarification on squeeze pages, here is what it is.
It is called a squeeze page because it is a page intended to achieve one thing and that is getting the visitor to enter their email (and name) as the only CTA (call to action)
There is no clickable link or image on the page that could distract the visitor from leaving your page. Only the submit button to the opt in form.

You need to offer a bribe on that page for the email address. This is a free gift that they can claim after they have entered their details. You can either create a free report (ebook), a free video or a free peace of software that can help your prospect in your niche. Although software will not be applicable in the acne niche, but you get the picture..

The average good squeeze page consists of the following elements:
    - an attention grabbing headline
    - a sub headline
    - bullet points with benefits to your free offer
    - a video presentation or ebook cover
    - the opt in form (preferably from aweber - most reliable company)

If you want newbie friendly training on how to create a squeeze page and build a list, check out my website. This is a series of free training courses that will give you all the step by step instructions on how to do just that. Since the bucks are a little short like you said, this is going to be the most affordable option for you

You can also incorporate an opt in form from aweber on your blog as well. Just make sure on your blog, it is above the fold in your sidebar. best at the very top.

    Hope this helps.

A cool video of yourself is not bad too! Explaining the benefits of your product and tell the people that they should join.

    Hi Marcus,

You may want to check the formatting in your articles from the HTML view. If you see too many   in-between your paragraphs, you may want to remove this code to have a cleaner look. Good content, start adding more but not all at one time.

Increasing your keywords may help return the site back to page one. Are you using any of the SEO plug-ins?

For a squeeze page/opt-in page, do you have a host with c-panel?

If you need hands on assistance, let me know.

First of all, install the Akismet plugin to prevent those automated comments. They do you NO good, and actually it's a piece of software they use to harvest blog and post spun comments on autopilot.

Actually I only allow people to link back to their site, if their comment is highly relevant, and contributes to the blog post in a way. Even if the comment is high value, you'd want to make it a nofollow outbound link.

Also make your: compensation disclorure, privacy policy, about etc. pages nofollow, don't use a lot of tags (if any) and make them nofollow as well. Consider doing that even to your category pages (especially if they're generic and not custom made), to distribute more link juice to the pages you're trying to rank for

Never make your aweber (or any other ONE outbound link) site wide - if you can avoid that, it's optimal seen from a SEO point of view. If you can't it okay too, don't sweat it

Regarding squeezepages, preselling and opt in rates, yes it's definitely the way to go. A squeeze page i basically: "offer great value (video/report) for FREE, to get their email. Actually the more expensive products don't try to sell you the product right away. They have a squeeze page, with typically a video, a headline and some bullets, all telling about the benefits of your giveaway. They typically continue to offer value 2-4 times more (now you're on their list) and they, finally, they'll try sending you to their sales/"pre-launch"/"limited" time offer page.

My recommendation for you, if you don't know how to make your squeezepages, is that you try optimizepress - it has some general templates you can modify, but also try searching this forum. This is not the first time this question has been raised Another great way of learning, is to go to clickbank, sort after gravity, and see what the best selling products to right.

Install this addon: addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/nodofollow/ - when it's installed, 'restart' your browser and when you're on a page simply right click anywhere inside the browser window and click 'NoDoFollow' - do follow links are marked as blue, and no follow as red.

Also download platinum seo plugin - see the screenshot for more info: imageshack.us/photo/my-images/189/wf1t.png/ (can't post links yet :p)

Regarding the comments issue, a lot of comments tend to be spam, or ways for others to try and get backlinks back to their own sites. You don't want any of these comments. As someone said, install akismet to prevent such comments.

Squeeze pages - if you want a paid wordpress plugin, the best one is probably Jason Fladlien's WPSqueezePro.

Or you can check out my squeeze pages, just plain html, easy to edit and install.
