How Do I protect A download page

I only want people to be able access the download page for my product after they made a purchase.

I dont want them to be able to pass it around to their friends

Any script or software, Price isn't a problem

    I heard DLGuard is awesome...

    I don't know much about it because I haven't used it, but...

    Every WSO I've bought on here used DLGuard after I made my payment, so I guess it works well...

    Try that out...

    What you would do is use robots.txt and disallow the folder the product lives in on your site. Then, you would name the product file something that people wouldn't guess.

    Example: domain.com/downloads/prod.pdf Disallow the downloads folder.

    Another option is Easy Clickguard. It's about half the price of DL Guard and its pretty straightforward to setup.

    What is the best free way of doing this? I has heard that if you place the download into a folder and inside that folder, you create and empty index.html and place it in the folder along with the download product, that this will keep people from finding your product.

    I would love to hear back from warriors on this.

      Hi Mike,

      That doesn't actually stop people from finding your files - all it does is stop people from going to your downloads folder and viewing all the files in it.

      When they buy from you, they'll still see your link:

      www.example.com/download/file.zip

      So they know exactly where your file is.

      Search engines will also pick up this link as well.


      The only way to stop this is to use a script that will create a unique download link for each customer that will expire after a certain amount of time. The download URL itself also needs to be hidden - you can't ever show anyone the real location of your file, otherwise it's a security breach.


      There are tips that people speak about, like the one you mentioned, and like the use of robots.txt files (which can sometimes be more dangerous than NOT using them at all), but none of them offer download page security.

      For real download page security, you will need to invest in a download management solution.

    Basically with DLGuard all you do is add your product details to DLGuard, and then DLGuard will give you a sales link which you paste onto your sales page.

    Simple as that!

    DLGuard will then check to make sure correct payments have been made, and then create unique expiring download link for your customers to download with.

      Thanks for your interest, Will!

      An affiliate system is on it's way, and will be included in DLGuard Pro. I don't yet have a release date, but I'm aiming for Q1 of this year.

      I don't want to add a little affiliate tracker, I want a full blown affiliate system that makes people go "wow". That's why it's taking a lot longer than expected!

      But it's on it's way!

        I'm not one of your customers (yet...I will be, though) but every WSO I've purchased used your product to protect their download links.

        You have a really good product on your hands!

        I used easyClickGuard. I'm a big fan of Adrian Ling's software programs but to be honest I didn't like it so last month I bought DL Guard and I love it. It truly is the Cadillac of DL protection software.

        Is it expensive--I guess but if you think of it--for all it does and saves you in stolen products it's a bargain. So for this area I recommend not be cheap like I was at first and just get DL Guard. I ended up spending more money on my way to DL Guard anyway--resistance is futile.

        If you truly can't afford it I suggest get e-junkie for $5/month after you start making some money with your products re-invest it back into your business. All you need to do is sell 12 $10 reports and DL Guard is paid for. On your next report you're in the money.

      That's true, and being a Big Mike product, I have no doubt that it's quality!

      I'm not sure exactly what this product is designed for, but I know that Big Mike still recommends DLGuard to a lot of people, and definately doesn't promote his product as a DLGuard replacement.

      (I hope I got this right, Mike! - correct me if I'm wrong!)
