Traffic Exchange Advice Required

Advertise on other Traffic Exchange or hire someone to do that for you.

Renukoot has it right. I'm actually in a Skype group with people that have Traffic Exchanges (I don't even have one..lol..but somehow I got networked around into it). They usually advertise their sites with each other and run promotions that make it worth it for everyone to join and share around. I'm sure that there's more to it. You might set up a JV post for a traffic exchange mastermind group to throw around ideas.

Renukoot - yes, I already use traffic exchanges so that would have been my first promotion

LegacyLewis - you dont know how I can get access to the Skype group you mentioned?
Would you advise contacting other TE owners to see if they would help?

you are taking on a huge mission here!

let me fill you in on a few things....

firstly most TE surfers are used to certrain scripts - the LJ, KRMTE, LFMTE and ventrino seem to be the most used and most well accepted. These scripts (and others) come with 'mods' or mods can be purchased for them to expand their functionality.

Most people expect a lot of features at a TE and many are seen as commonplace even though they do not come as standard with the scripts.

Thought - it could be hard to get people to accept a completely different format - most people dont like to move outside their comfort zone!

The TE industry is a decent size so if you can get some people on board to promote you may do well - the 'usual' way this is achieved is with JV launches where you set a date and offer some sort of incentive to get other owners to promote for you - cash works well in most JV launches.

As far as swapping advertising - you dont actually have any to swap yet! There is no benefit to an established site with thousands of members to swap with your site in the beginning - you would be better off swapping some other skill or talent you have (like say your graphics as mentioned above or other)

Another way to go is to start stock piling credits at different places so that when you are ready to launch you have a pile of advertising you can use to get going - there are plenty of viral mailers that many in th TE industry also use and plenty of those also offer welcome packages of advertising that can also be saved for future use.

As mentioned - when you see a sale for start pages - grab them - and also I personally would take more kindly to a mail from a budding owner explaining their position and asking for a discount rather than a freebie (imho)

There are pros and cons to starting a TE from scratch or buying an established one that is already pulling income and has plenty of members - it depends on your budget (which I hope is pretty good because any new business needs to be supported heavily until a steady income is produced - you owe that to your new members!)

It is very hard for a new traffic exchange to gain critical mass as there are so many traffic exchanges out there. What would make yours unique?

In my case, I created a toolbar traffic exchange (Free Traffic Bar) and a screensaver traffic exchange (ScreenSwarm). This made my exchanges unique and I was able to joint venture with many other traffic exchange owners.

But one more traffic exchange using the same scripts as all the rest would make it tough to compete.

So give some careful thought as to how you are going to stand out from the herd.

If it's a popular traffic exchange script you can let traffic exchange owners of ventrino script know about your site and they will advertise it to their members for free using their te affiliate link

Thank you for your detailed response, the script I will be using is the LFMTE script. I chose the LFMTE script because I find it very easy to use (especially when multi-surfing and it doesn't seem to freeze my chrome browser or let the page appear but no header/controls! Or is that just my machine?) and fast. I have some experience of surfing across many TEs so looked at all the available scripts.

I will get on the webinar this Sunday - I have visited the link and registered for the groups.

Thanks for your input - I agree the TE will need to stand out and be unique to become a success - I cannot reveal my 'uniqueness' yet - I dont want to give the game away to early.

I dont think ventrino script owners would welcome me using LFMTE - but you never know.

I really need to get my head around using JVs to assist a successful launch and I will begin collecting credits on my current and new TEs and safelists so I can hit the market with a blast.
