INTERNET MARKETING

Ok. I finally have to ask because I think it's cool.

How do they make a little logo or icon show up on the browser tab or in the location bar when you land on someone's site? Not all have it, but Google does, and so does the Forum.

I've also seen sites that make the scroll bars a different color, too.

Just curious to know how they make that happen. Anyone know? Should we all do it? It sure makes those sites stand out and would help build your identity having your icon right there.

Those are icons and you can build your own by using your logo etc. Check out this link for icons builders.

You can create a jpg file in PS and just save it as a .ico file on your server. 16x16 is the common size

They are called "favicons" and here is where you can make them:

I have one on my site .BabyBouquetsandBaskets(dot)com.

.FAV icons.. Favicons.

Google search: "online favicon builder".

And you'll find some quick and easy builders in which you just give them a picture, they create the small logo with it and give you instructions on loading it

  I just checked on the favicons. Once you create it, it tells you how to download to your computer, upload to your (WEBePanel, or CPanel or whatever your host calls it), then where to install the code in your index.html file to make your favicon show up in the location bar.
  
  Looks easy enough. When I get a few minutes to play with it, I'm going to do it!
