What You Wish You Knew Then

What I wish I knew when I first started IM:

1- It's a lot of hard work. It is way harder than others claim, and even harder than the hardest scenario you have in your mind.

2- You gotta think bigger. You're gonna be thinking anyway, might as well think big. It takes just as much to create a weak site as it does to create something great. It took Mark Zuckerberg 42 days to create Facebook; it took me months to create penny-stock-fortunes-review.com

3 - Don't get stuck in the theory of everything. Ultimately you gotta learn and do, but do more than learn. Know where you want to go and head there, but at the end of the way the best roadmap is the one you write yourself

What do you wish you knew in the beginning?

I also learned that business cards are best with a watermark.

And that it's almost impossible to get reservations at the Doria.

I wish I knew how to create facebook and develop it before Mark does.

Too many things to regret, by doing so is a waste of time.

Very true my man, but I meant lessons learned not regrets

(For the newbies, and to reflect so you can better integrate what you've learned)

Well then: misleading thread title is misleading. "What you wish you knew then" sure seems like a thread where people would talk about regrets. Regardless, lessons learned is what you are looking for.

Read here, here, here, here. That's just page one. It's an excellent question, and thus has been discussed many times over.

I wouldn't say it was mis-titled at all, just written differently.

Anyway, I wasn't aware there was so many posts on the topic. Thanks

Taking massive action and leveraging other people's talents are two things that I wish I had known how to do before I got started in IM.

    ^ Yes Same here

In the beginning I just wanted to make £500 a month... I wanted to make money online and to make some sales... I wanted a slice of the action...

    I got it...

It was only when I started thinking bigger, and aiming bigger that things really started to transform for me...

Why only aim for £500 a month, why only want a slice... I changed my goals - to be the "largest, busiest and most profitable ___ niche store online"

    I got it...

There's no reason why you can't be the market leading, authoritative website online in your niche - the people who currently are are no different to you, just a guy sat behind a desk (maybe even just in his bedroom) somewhere doing similar things to you but thinking bigger...

I wish I knew how simple it was to research sincere product reviews. I also wish that I had a better understanding of leveraging other people's skills to save myself time and be a boss instead of a technician. =]
