Reporting Spammers Delay?

There appears to be a very industrious spammer at work on the forum this evening, in the last few minutes he's made about a dozen posts on the main page advertising his Bangladesh "all-in-one" website.

Of course like a good little Warrior I clicked the report triangle and reported his nasty activities to the mods. But it was while reporting the second one that I received the message "this forum requires you wait 60 seconds between reports" (or something of that nature, don't remember the exact words or time).

In this particular case I simply reported that ALL of the users posts were spam, and I'm sure our mods will take care of the situation. But it did have me wondering why there was a restriction in reporting problem posts? I suppose it could be to prevent spamming the mods, but in this particular case the spammer was cranking them out faster than I could report them.

Just wondering if there might be a way to change that - maybe allowing long-time members or those with sufficient post counts to bypass the time restriction?

This isn't a complaint, but more of a suggestion - the ability for members to assist the mods in policing the content of the forum is one of the things makes the Warrior Forum such a great resource. Just thought that there might be a way to make that aspect even better.

Their website is resolving to one of HostGator's reseller servers. I just sent their security team a screenshot since both HostGator and SoftLayer don't allow spamvertising. Hopefully they won't have a website to spam soon

I know we are not supposed to talk smack about other people here, but I agree. That is no way to properly spam. :p

The only possible issue here is what if I were the spammer, and you were my competition? Maybe this could get your account banned?

Considering that the few links he did post were directly linked to the website, I doubt it was an affiliate. So, it would either be a spammer trying to get them banned or the website owner. For it to be a spammer intentionally trying to get them banned then that would be it was premeditated that someone would contact their hosting company. If they were that smart and that was their intention, then there is a good chance they would have had links in all their posts, not just a few. That's why I would think it is just a stupid website owner trying to get quick traffic

Greatness is difficult to appreciate from close up. The great mountain on the horizon is only the ground when you are standing on it.

LOL, that's too funny! A newbie spammer!

Prediction: after his post count is sufficient he'll join the War Room and then release his "How to SPAM the Warrior Forum" WSO a few minutes later.

Although his spamming skills need work I will give him credit - as of this writing he practically owns the first page of the main discussion forum.

He must have read this thread, because after 20 or so posts, he started dropping links in the threads.

          LOL

Bill that is a setting in the forum settings.

I have brought this to the attention of the mods before, and they seem to feel that it is a setting that does not need to be changed. :p

Thanks you Sir for making such post. May he will also put his attention on this thread. I also do PM him that it is not a good way. It will make bad impression on others and also MOD will also delete your threads too or he will banned you for sometime.

But still he is not taking any action and going on and on.

And also one thing for other worriors please don't comment on those thread otherwise your posts also goes in air with that.

Sadly, it's unlikely the "spammer" was even present. It's
much more likely that those threads were posted by a
    bot or forum spamming software.

Thankfully the account, along with its threads, has been
    nuked.

The easiest think to do to make it easier for the mod is to go to the spammers Profile page, click on Statistics.

      Click on All Posts.

Scroll down through all of the spammers posts and make a mental note of the number / % of blatant one liners, copy the URL, go back to the offending post and then put in something similar to...

Blatant one liner for spamming purposes - mod if you check out all this persons posts here... (paste URL) you'll see x % of his/her posts are all spam.

And just leave it at that.

You'll at least save the moderator concerned a few more seconds of his or her valuable time.

Sometimes maybe it takes a bit of time as there may not be a mod staring at new threads 24/7. I think what happens is a mod is looking it over and removing the spammer and not just his posts/threads. Once you've reported one thread of a serial spammers post - he's on the radar so you've done your job.

Spammers like the ones last night (there was more than one) think they are "owning" the WF - but mods will foreclose on them.
