How to use Google Analytics to track Amazon affiliate links?

I want to try and track everything from Google analytics and have just started using the new interface and really love all the features like the live reporting. I'm just wondering how I can track clicks of my amazon affiliate links as well and how do you do it using the new Google analytics interface?

Thanks

I have never actually done that before but take a look here for a brief explanation on doing similar: http://www.webtrafficroi.com/4-ways-...d-improve-roi/

If your website displays advertisements other than Adsense, you can still track clicks on the ads. Simply use the Google Analytics Events to track clicks in the same way that you would for affiliate links.

I have been following that thread but honestly there has to be more that went on there than the OP is letting on. Google doesn't just deindex all of someones sites for the fun of it especially if you are doing everything by their rules like the OP said.

Even without Google analytics installed Google still has ways of tracking your sites and certain info. Anyway I would think giving them this info may actually help me in rankings. I have been improving my site and now have somewhere around a 5% bounce rate with average time on site over 2 minutes and page views per visitor is around 5 so that should help to get me some good user interaction points with Google lol.

Allright nevermind, got it working. I decided to use the google analytics for wordpress plugin that gives you the option to track outbound clicks

It would be even better if Google would allow for extra widgets inside Analytics, that way someone could make tracking for Amazon just like Google has made for Adsense

Yea it's not like they don't have the resources to do it - they probably consider it a security risk which really means they just don't want to spend the money fully developing, testing, and maintaining it for security.

It's kind of funny how they are all about providing the best user experience and they will penalize others for not providing it but when it comes to their own product they couldn't care less. I mean something as simple as tracking link clicks should be something they could easily integrate or allow developers to integrate but no. Instead we have to try and find workarounds, install other plugins and ultimately do more work just to accomplish a simple task.

I would NEVER use Google tracking for any of my sites nor would I reccommend any of my students to use them either.

Why give Google information on your site that you dont have too, If you trust Google go right ahead as for me I don't trust them 1 iota and will not give them any information about my sites that they could use against me.

It's not common sense but rather just paranoia. Where is the proof that using Google analytics will affect your affiliate sites in a negative way (and I mean actual hard 100% verified proof)? I think a lot of the analytics fear that is spread around this forum is just based on myths and rumors. Until I am proven otherwise I will continue to use analytics. I have nothing to hide from Google.
