Product Picture Above the Fold - Bad?

I feel my sites look cooler when I have a shot of the product (ebook) within the first window frame.

But I've seen some of the top dogs not do this.

But not sure if I've researched enough.

Is it unwise to do this ?

I agree. Split testing is a good idea. You can make different versions of the page to show dynamically with a simple PHP script. You can have full control and full stats...

If you need help with this, just PM me.

      Hi,

      I think it works alright...

Right when I did that to one of my pages I had
3 quick sales, but then it died down again!

I think I should do it with all my pages... to be honest!

It really depends on your market, how well the product meets the needs of the market, the quality of the graphical image and how quickly your image loads. But the only way to be determine whether this is the best way to go is the answer most people dont really want to hear - test!

I think it depends on the product too. If people are looking for a specific product the probably want to see it when the hit the page. If they are looking for a "Solution-type" product then they are more willing to get information first and scroll down to see hat they are actually buying.

    My thoughts.

I'm with you...I always place my picture above the fold. I haven't seen anything written on this.
