Can we copy/paste all plugins with existing settings from one WP blog to another?

As stated in the title really. Is there a simply way to copy/paste all existing plugins with their current settings from one WP blog to another?

I'm sick of having to personally configure all the settings when I create a new site.

I tried copy/pasting them using FTP.

Thanks then!
#blog #copy or paste #existing #plugins #settings

Not sure about the settings but you can just FTP it from one site and upload it to the other. All the plug in files are usually in the wp-content/plugins folder.

I've FTP'd them from one site to my computer, then up to another site, but it doesn't save the settings.

There are tools out there that will enable you to do this.

One such tool can be found here:

The settings for many WP plugins are in the SQL databases they set up.

If you copy over the plugins themselves, you will probably have to export/import the settings into the SQL database for that WP installation.

Yeah, that will work, but you also need to copy the wp-content folder and the .htaccess file, although the htaccess will need to be customized for the new server.

Another great tool that I use to accomplish this is

BackupBuddy : PluginBuddy | WordPress Plugins

it might be a little pricey but it really works fantastic, and extremely easy to backup and create clones of your site.

Thanks for the info guys! I'd rather use some software than do it manually.

Has anyone used BackupBuddy, ManageWP, and FlipMeClone? I'm having trouble gauging the differences between them and choosing one...

If you want to pay, get one of the recommended software options.

If you want to do it for free, just export the MySQL database, open it in a text editor, replace the site URL and any references to the site path with the new site's details, install WordPress on your new site, upload the same plugins to the new site, and import the new database - you're done. (Caveat: there may be one or two plugins that still require tweaking, but 90%+ of plugin settings will be maintained)

Really, you've used a lot of them and that's the best? WP Twin does look very fast, but I'm on the trial for manageWP and it doesn't just let you clone all your site information, you can add all your websites to it and update all plugins/themes at the same time with one click, run backups for all of them, see G analytics information, bulk add links, posts, pages, entire websites etc...

This looks like the one for me, thanks for the help guys!
