email marketing vs newsletter marketing

Is there a difference between these 2 marketing tactics or are they just the same thing with different names?

In the sense that newsletters are normally sent by email, there's an overlap.

Like so many things, different people use terms slightly differently (sometimes very differently).

In general, I think most people would take "email marketing" to refer to slightly more frequent emails of shorter length, and "newsletter marketing" to refer to something longer (and sometimes with a perhaps slightly more formal structure) sent out less often.

Then again, I may be wrong ...

Similar to what Alexa Smith said, the term "email marketing" and "newsletter
marketing" are similar. But people are using the term "email marketing" rather
    than "newsletter marketing" more often.

I would consider newsletter marketing a subset of email marketing if it is sent via email (I guess a newsletter could be posted on a website or contained in an RSS feed, etc.)

Email marketing, in my mind, is the broader category, that is, everything you send via email to your clientele: product recommendations, niche news, product offers, affiliate links, reviews, yada, yada (all or some of which could be organized into sections of a "newsletter."
