Question regarding product images

I have a question about product images.

I know Amazon allow us to use product images when promoting a product, but for some products they only have 1 image, so I was wondering are we allowed to use images of the product which are on the manufactures website, as they usually have a handful of images of the product.

I suggest you contact the manufacturer.

If you use a picture without permission you risk getting sued by the manufacturer.

If one image is good enough for Amazon, why would you want to gild the lily?

I would concentrate my energies on promoting the product rather than spending time on searching out new images. In any event, you've been given good advice - ask the manufacturers before you attempt to use their images.

For what it's worth I have heard of cases where manufacturers have sued resellers of their products for using their branding. It seems crazy because you would think that they would be happy that someone was selling their products.

But the reason is that they often provide rights to use their branding and logos and images etc to their authorised distributors. If you're not 'authorised' then you can't use it.

The cases I'm thinking of, are car manufacturers, who have sued car dealers for using the car brand names, in their advertising. You'd think they'd be happy that someone wants to promote their brand. Mad but true.
