Increase your subscriber numbers with free giveaways

Hey Warriors,

I've been experimenting lately with giving away free products to increase my AWeber subscriber counts and it has certainly been working. If you're a webmaster who is struggling to increase your subscriber count, a good way to increase numbers in your newsletter is to hold a contest of some sort. As long as the free product you are giving away is somewhat valuable and related to your target market or niche, you should receive a large amount of new subscribers by offering a free item.

With my men's entertainment site, BROcrastinator, I gave away a free 1-year subscription to either Maxim or Golf Digest magazine. The only way to enter the competition was to be a part of the newsletter and any person who had previously signed up was automatically entered. Here is the example of my post. I picked a subscriber's name out of a hat and updated the entire newsletter on the winner, that way everyone knew they had a shot to win and that someone actually did win.

I'd certainly recommend a process like this or a variation of this. The best way to increase your subscriber counts is definitely to provide value to the people who subscribe. If that value happens to be free product giveaways mixed in with other aspects, it will certainly help add new subscribers and retain old ones!

Hope I helped!
Rob

Doing the same with a free motorcycle magazine subscription. Definite improvement. Also found that a popup every 3 minutes doubled my subscription %. I made a simply popup for joomla.

I've experimented with pop-ups as well too, using the Popup Domination plug-in for Wordpress, but I've turned away from popups at this time. I don't want to throw anything in my readers faces and sometimes popups can do more harm than good, at least in my opinion.
