Increasing revenue from a coupon site?

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum and found this forum through a google search last week on affiliate marketing. I currently own MoneySavingLisa.com which is a little over two months old and is a coupon/freebie/money savings type of website. I first started it as free Blogger site, and since I was starting to get what I consider a good amount of traffic (3000 unique hits in it's first two weeks) I decided to see what level I can take it too and switched it to Wordpress and had it designed with some unexpected money I received from the VA. I also now have collected over 1300 Facebook Followers, over 900 twitters followers and 263 newsletter subscribers.

Currently, I monetize my blog using various programs such as Amazon, Escalate Media, MySavings Media, Commission Junction, Infolinks (just switched to IntentClick) Google Adsense, etc. I just had Google Adsense added last week, and it's starting to earn up to an extra $5 a day or so with that. Right now, I estimate that I've made over $205 so far this month. For being as old as it is, I don't think that's too bad.

I'm on unemployment that's about to end next month, so it's all I have to work on. I'm trying to find ways to maximize more earnings, and increase traffic. So far this month I tested out having advertising set on blogs of the same niche instead of CPC advertising. But since I am noticing that it's not effecting my traffic in a big way, I set up $5/day on Bidvertisor and I'm waiting for that to start up.

I am new to affiliate marketing and looking for any advice on how to increase my earnings and traffic. Even though I'm affiliate marketing, I have read about it for years so I think that's what has helped me out so far. But since I haven't tried it until recently, I can be a little lost at times. I'm hoping to be able make enough with my blog in 2012 to make a good monthly income, especially since I might only be able to find a part time job if I'm lucky.. and so far no luck with any job.

If you don't have much money to spend on paid online marketing then bridge the gap with some offline marketing techniques. There are several in this forum that you can look up. neodarth wrote about some success he had with QR codes and I tried it with good results.

Thanks for the tip! Luckily, I do have wiggle room to use for online marketing.

You're clearly on the right track. Many online marketers don't make a dime for years!

If something is working (traffic, adsense, etc), then continue doing more of the same to increase earnings.

Promote Clickbank and WSO products to your list as well as promoting those products on your site where you're clearly getting traffic.

    Good luck.

Thanks! I think the only reason I have been doing good so far is that I've always had an interest in affiliate marketing and would read about it. I think if I would have started my website with out monetizing after a few weeks, it would be a different story.

Luckily, I have found some clickbank products that work around my niche.

    Welcome to the forum.

You sound like you have a really great start.

I hope you didn't get rid of your blogger blog. 3000 unique hits is great so I suggest you keep it updated too.

    Definitely build a list.

Getting traffic is hard so you don't want to just get it and lose it.

If you build a list, then you can promote to that same traffic over and over again.

Add an opt in box to both your blogger site (very easy to do) and your wordpress site (not as easy but you can ask on here if you run into trouble).

Like most newbies, don't go off and buy anything. Most of what you need is available on here for free.

Don't buy WSO's at all or if you feel compelled too, wait a couple of weeks, the scammers are found out in about that time by all the negative or no feedback.

Join the War Room because there is lots of really great free stuff in there.

    Good luck.

I have my blogger redirected to my new blog traffic has gone/up and down, and somehow had a really good day last week of almost receiving 2700 in day all from Facebook referrals.. but would love to continue that trend.

I think one of the best things I did was join Aweber and start my email list early on. I have heard that the money is in your list, and I've seen that to be true. I have a few auto responders set up which have worked wonders for me. I also do what's called "Hot Deal Alerts" where I email out 1-5 times a day deals on Amazon, affiliate networks, etc. I noticed other blogs in my niche do not offer that service, so that's where I get a lot of my subscribers from since they like that incentive.

      Thanks for the advice!

Coupons mode of Affiliate networking, is really on a thin layer business model.
there are thousands of website available now.

many giant players, retailmenot.com, coupons.com, couponscabin, and many more....

you can narrow down the gap with a good amount of money to spend on paid online marketing.

And then put some viral marketing to it.

running the website in the similar fashion will land you up within few hundreds/month.

but if your risk bigger, and take good steps
    such as
    a team of good researchers
a team of fast data entry operators
good & unique content all over your website
back link juice for your website
a dedicated person for keywords research
    more affiliate networks

dont just limit to US market, open your wings for UK, AUS, CAN, FR and many more other countries. because countries other than US has less competition.

let me know if you have any other question, my company had been running 3 coupon websites, we did offer our services to retailmenot . com, they have best CMS.

sorry to say technically it's too week.

you may get traffic from viral resources, but GooGle will never send you organic traffic. if you can show me WMT report if you have, i can speak much better....
