How to do Forum Marketing to promote New Website, in creative & non-spammy way in WarriorForum?

How to promote and introduce a brand new website (Online Tools site, not blog/ squeeze page) with Forum Marketing in WarriorForum?

The common way:
1. Using Signature and post useful posts
2. Creating a thread
3. PM other members (Spammy)
4. Buy adspace (need money)

Maybe, is there any creative non-spammy ways to do Forum Marketing in WF? To introduce a brand new website.

Create a free report to give away in the War Room and post the link to your site in the report at the beginning and end. Give an answer to a common problem related to the site and if it is valuable enough you will get plenty of traffic.

Key thing is to participate participate participate. Genuinely be helpful. I would stick to the forums that are closely related to your site topic. This way, once you are helpful to someone they are more likely to actually want to read what else you have to say.

      Hi there,

I completely agree with Jennifer and a few other's on here.

AUTHENTIC participation, and relationship building are EVERYTHING!

When we offer value, and genuinely care about other people's well-being on our forum community here, then it will definitely show through our words and actions.

    Don't promote!!

Put your site in your signature, then contribute value to the forum. People will notice that you are bringing value to the forum, then notice your signature file.

If folks are interested in your signature file, they will follow your links.

The best kind of promotion in a forum is no promotion at all.

      What Bill says is true...

I report spammy PMs. Purely promotional threads get nuked outside the paid advertising sections. Many of us don't troll the WSO section anyway.

But many of us do notice the sigs of people we feel contribute value, we click them, and, if the stars align, we buy stuff or opt into lists.

Offering something in the War Room is one way of giving value - if the offer is something truly worthwhile, not just something you slapped together in order to start a thread in the WR.

You're better of just participating in the discussions and building a reputation rather than thinking of your posts as Forum Marketing.

Create useful posts and provide value to the forum, and use your signature space for advertising your site.

If you use #2. Creating a thread for a method of self-promotion it will just get reported and deleted.

PM others and it will get reported if you're spamming people via PM with your products and services

Buy Adspace. It costs money but it makes more money than it costs if you have a good product or service.

My advice would be to use the traditional signature method, but scan the forum for threads where there is a legitimate reason for you to plug your website. For example, if your website is "the all in one guide to joomla web design," look for threads on joomla web design. When you have found these threads, leave a well thought out comment, and mention that when users click on the link in your signature, they will find all kinds of awesome ideas about the topic they are interested in.

That is likely to get all your posts that say "click on my sig" deleted. It is self promotion and is not received well by the mods.

You can also post on your Warrior Forum blog, the rules are a bit more relaxed there, but don't go too crazy with self-promotion.

I don't know how many people read other member's WF blogs though. I guess I seldom have in the past. Does anyone here read the Warrior blogs?

The best promotion comes when you aren't even thinking about. Throw it up in your signature line, and regardless of the thread topic, start contributing and participating.

Though I've not done this I agree with Bill and others that number one would have to be best. I've not tested four but I'm sure those that have can advise.

As far as I'm concerned creating a thread (assuming you mean here and not to give away a report in the War Room) is about as useful as PMing others. I'd certainly hit the report button.

This is where so many people I believe get it wrong. They are in such a hurry to make money, they think they can come here, make a signature, PM strangers or start blatant pitch fest threads and hey presto, watch it roll in.

Think of the "guru's". They sell so much because they have a following. You don't create a following by turning up and pitching products on day one. Get people to notice you, get people to like reading your stuff, get people to realise you know what you're talking about. Then they'll click on your signature.

I think so anyway. I've no idea what traffic goes to the links in my signature.

      Exactly. ^^

I do have to ask: Why would you want to "do forum marketing" in the WF?

      1. You are restricted to promoting things in the IM niches.
      2. There are thousands, perhaps tens-of-thousands, of other forums that are far less heavily restricted when it comes to promoting products/services.

Promotion through common forum marketing methods seems like too much work for too little reward, in my opinion. Of course, you could always use the tricks, like getting people to keep your name on the front page (Frank Kern who?) and the many baited question-and-answer threads. But the experienced users are going to see through that, and most Newbies are broke anyway, so why target them?

      Nah... My advice is:

      1. Don't limit yourself to the IM niches, and
      2. Market in other forums.

Like a library, the WF is better for learning than marketing, unless you're willing to pay for it.

In this forum I do it by genuinely helping people with their problems, answering questions and giving good advice from personal experience.

In other niches that I really know nothing about (in the case where I pay to have a product created) I just buy the best banner slots on the forum, which I also do here to.

I would say it really depends if you know a lot about the niche or not if you do do it by contributing positively to the forum if you don't just buy advertisements.

Do not make posts on this forum with the intention to promote.

Be here to learn new stuff and to teach other people new things they do not know. If you are helpful to those around you, they will notice you for it, and naturally wonder what you are doing. They will look at your signature box.

The best kind of promotion is the kind that develops on its own.

Whatever you do I suggest giving value. Give free value to start with. Give value on your sales page if possible. Make sure what you are offering (your product) gives value. And give value in your follow up after the sale. True commerce is the exchange of value. Money is nothing more then a symbolic representation of this value.

You could try focusing on posting in threads that are more relevant to your interests, expertise and/or niche. For example, if you are offering offline IM products, then you may want to make your mark in the offline marketing section of the forum.

When posting, focus on the quality of your input. 100 quick posts aren't going to do much for you, or anyone for that matter. 10 excellent, helpful posts will get you a lot more noticed. Look at the Warriors with thousands of posts that are posting helpful information every day - they are hugely trusted and can sell to a lot of people because of it.

You made a great start just by asking these questions. Some newer members just jump in and see how far they can push the promoting before they get called out on it. That is never well received.

? You start giving away free shizz by the bucketloads for the sake of it and all you will end up with is a bunch of pizzeled of people.

Try giving away very little and when you do make sure what you do give is of high quality.

I agree with tpw. Placing link in your signature and genuinely contributing to threads in the forums is a good way to go. If you have money to spare, placing an advertisement in the appropriate forum wouldn't hurt either

Never send PMs to other Warriors to promote your site though -- most won't appreciate it and it's against the rules.

Always seek to add value when posting a message. Sometimes, it will simply be some words of encouragement. Other times, you will share your knowledge about certain topics. Usually, it is a mixture of both. This forum has benefited me on many levels. I am honoured to help others in return.

I would like to ask a quickie question to you all, now that we are speaking about forum marketing. If you are a total newcomer and want to use this method, how can you provide value if you know little on this business?

You can have the best intentions participating and creating useful posts, but if you have no experience in the field, this traffic source will be quite difficult because little people will be interested in your efforts. Or at least its the way I see this myself.

    What do you think?

      Mostly.

Done the common way (putting a link in your signature and making helpful posts) I would say that you should probably never expect much in the way of results, but especially when you are relatively new. The few leads that you do get will be good compared to one from SEO for example, but all of that time for so few leads... Nah, there are much better ways.

Use the Warrior Forum to learn. Pay for some advertising if you have the will and the means. Otherwise, make your money somewhere else.

Sometimes a lack of experience can be just what the doctor ordered. Look for posts that ask for an opinion - you don't need experience for that, but you can still add your own unique perspective.

For example, there are many threads asking for reactions to site designs, graphics, landing pages, etc. Post in those threads with your experience level, along with your experience level and any reasons behind your opinion. If I was offering something targeted toward the less-experienced, I might find your reaction more valuable than that of grizzled vets.

Adding value doesn't always mean providing advice or answers.

when I post every day 2-3 comments in 3-5 niche forums, ist that enough to become 100-200 visitor traffic daily?

Or I need more than 3-5 niche forums for that traffic plus blog comments on 3-5 niche blogs?
This traffic I will monetize with google adsense and amazon products.

  • To cut it short and simple - just add value. Learn from people's threads/posts and you'll soon notice your own value starting to increase. There's so much knowledge and experience in this forum. The more you absorb, the more you can help others. The more you help others, the more they will like you. Then the more they will be interested and respect you. That's really it. Add value, whether it would be an educative post, a free offer, or just sharing about your experiences in general. Someone here is bound to appreciate the value of it. Because you are here spending... no... INVESTING your own time to go through these forums, you are already adding value to yourself. All you need to do is give it back and then people will start to think you're not really a douche. LOL

Personally, I'm fascinated by anyone wanting to market to this forum.
    1. As IMers, we know all or most of the tricks.
    2. We're jaded and skeptical about anything even remotely trying to sell to us.
    3. We think we know better even when we don't
    4. We make glittering generalities (Oh wait, that's just me... Or, at least what I'm doing here.)
In short, we're an IMer's worst nightmare when it comes to target markets. (With the caveat that if you have a useful tool, and follow the proper procedures, we're totally the right niche.) It's sort of like trying to learn a new sport, and having a professional team as your first opponent. VERY unlikely to lead to success.
I did a fair amount of lurking before I felt comfortable contributing. I've still only started 1 thread myself. I usually try to contribute to other threads and help where I can. While I have mentioned my sig a couple of times, it's on topic and relevant to the thread. I have not reached anywhere near the reputation of some other warriors (Yes, that's a direct Alexa Smith reference) I hope my posts are viewed in the positive light in which I offer them.
I'm telling you all of this, so you have a feel for where I'm coming from in relation to the OP and advice that has been given here. Thanks.

    Hi,

@MikeTucker, when 3-5 forums and 4-5 related blogs are not enough to get this traffic, more ist not possible it's to time-consuming.

For blog connmenting I will use zemanta, my other traffic sources are article syndicate, forum marketing and sources like yousaytoo or so, who are a little bit set it and forget it, not add groups and fans, dicuss wit other and so on.

Only spray my content over the web to get backlinks and target traffic.

"Too time-consuming"?? You would rather "spray" your content everywhere for the hope that you will get backlinks that might eventually lead to a few slightly targeted, low-quality leads that comes from search engines?

Ah well, to each their own, right?

Well, I'm not necessarily chasing after immediate profits from WF signature traffic. I mean, I do profit from advertising on my site so the more users who submit reviews, the better.

However, I'm more interested in the content to help build the site. It's a community site so the more content, the more everyone benefits.

I may not see too much immediate profit from the WF traffic but it will certainly help build the site, making it an authority and driving up rankings/traffic, which in turn benefits my own reviews that I post on it.

I've already approved a few reviews so the strategy certainly works.

Very interesting approach... A new twist on an old trick. Are you getting about 100 visits/day consistently?

Well, it's only been a few days but yes. Granted, what I am seeing is mostly tire-kickers that visit the site, scope it out, then leave. Only a subset does anything while on the site.

I received over 100 unique visits to my brand new crowd-sourced Amazon review site yesterday. 2/3 of that traffic was from folks interested in posting Amazon reviews on the site.

Guess where they all clicked through from? That's right: my signature.

Now that i think about it, i definitely do get spammy PM's to my inbox about some new revolutionary product that's gonna cure cancer/hiv/the flu/etc. Next time someone does it again i will report them.

At the beginning i came to this forum just because of want to spam my promotion , but i find out that this is really a good forum for me to share and learn about internet marketing.
So i give up to gain traffic here but yet here become a source for me to learn.
