mm I think my thread got corrupted when the database went down so I will repost it as a reply

Hi Warriors,

I am signing up for the amazon associate website and I came across few points that I didn't fully understand since my first language is not English..

11. You will not use any Content, including any name or likeness embodied in that Content, in a manner that implies a person’s or company’s endorsement or sponsorship of, or commercial tie-in or other association with, any product, service, party, or cause (including by placing unrelated third party materials in close proximity to Content).

Does that mean I cannot put facebook likes on my reviewed products?

10. You will promptly remove from your site and delete or otherwise destroy any Content that is no longer displayed on the Amazon Site or that we notify you is no longer available for your use.

Does it mean I have to keep a track of the content? I am listing alot of products so if they found a link is broken then they can terminate the agreement?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I have another few questions

1) Can I list 2 affiliates on my websites like Amazon and walmart? or Amazon won't allow it?

2) If I decide to use amazon review system ( stars only) thro the API.. would the stars update if they changed?

That's not necessarily how I read it. For example, if you have a blog and you write a review of a product and the post itself has a Facebook Like button then you'd probably be ok. It would be clear that Facebook isn't endorsing the product, which is what Amazon is worried about.

Amazon doesn't want you to set up your site--or in this case your reviews--so that it looks like Facebook (or some other company) is directly endorsing whatever product you're reviewing. An example off the top of my head is the "As seen on Google, Bing, Yahoo!" type graphics that some sites use. While it's technically true that the product is able to be found on those sites, the way it's presented could be misinterpreted to mean that those sites all endorse whatever product is being reviewed, which is what Amazon is trying to avoid here.

They probably wouldn't terminate it (though it's probably within their power according to the agreement).

I suspect this one is just to cover all of their bases (i.e., their lawyers made them put it in there just in case). It's not likely something you actually have to worry about. If Amazon stops carrying a product for whatever reason, they would probably notify their affiliates in advance so you would have a chance to modify your site and remove that product from it.

    1) Can I list 2 affiliates on my websites like Amazon and walmart? or Amazon won't allow it?
That one I can't answer. I don't actually use Amazon's affiliate program but I would guess, since Amazon sells just about everything now, that you wouldn't be able to do it.

You could email Amazon and check just to be sure though.

    2) If I decide to use amazon review system ( stars only) thro the API.. would the stars update if they changed?
They should. The API would feed your site any changes and it would update on your site automatically.

    • It would be best to contact Amazon directly to have them clarify anything you don't understand. All we can do is give you an interpretation of what we "think" its saying.
