Method 1) Hostgator Affiliate Program

Hostgator offers one of the best affiliate programs I have ever seen, check out their payout structure here:

http://www.hostgator.com/affiliates.shtml

Let's do some simple math:

You only need 21 signups/month to earn $2,625 for that month, that's only 0.7 signups/day! If you honestly worked hard at this for 3-4 hours a day (better than a desk job right?) there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to get at least 21 sign ups per month. Here are some suggestions to get sign ups...

- Goto craigslist and pick 10 large cities and make a posting in each city offering to setup a simple 1-page wordpress site for free as long as they sign up through your hosting link. Post in 10 different big cities once a day and you will get sign ups. Tell clients they must purchase hosting first so that you can login to their account to build the website. This works even better if you have an example site or two to show them. Make sure you actually follow through and build them a nice 1-page site!

If you are experienced with building sites there are also excellent upsell opportunities here. Offer to expand the site after you did a good job on the 1-page site for a fixed price. If you think the client would be interested in SEO services, offer them that as well and outsource it here on the warriorforum if you know nothing about SEO.

- Offer free wordpress installations on craigslist, internet marketing forums, web-design forums, etc in exchange for them getting hosting through your link. There are plenty of videos on youtube explaining how to install wordpress, but yet surprisingly many people still charge for this. Again, oftentimes if they do not know how to install wordpress they will need help with their website as well which opens the door for more profit. You can outsource anything you are not sure how to do with a slight markup to leave you some profit. Make sure you are outsourcing to reputable people.

---------------------------------------

Method 2) Fiverr Reselling

Head on over to Fiverr - Hire people to do things for $5 and rather than posting gigs, you're going to resell very popular gigs. For example if you search for "Backlinks" and sort the gigs by rating you will find several good gigs with positive feedback. You can then turn around and offer these gigs for sale on forums, craigslist, ebay, etc for $10-$25 a pop. When you get a sale, simply be the middle man between your client and the fiverr gig creator. There's a lot of this going on right here on the WF (yeah - I said it!).

Great gigs to do this with include SEO/Backlinking, Logo design/graphics, songs for girlfriend....I purchased a killer song on fiverr for my girlfriend for $15, which I would of easily paid a lot more for had I known the quality it was going to be. Some things like this people can't really put a solid price on!

--------------------------------------

Method 3) Offline CPA Marketing

If you need help getting accepted into a CPA network, there's plenty of information on that on this forum. Once you are accepted, you are going to promote offers offline. Find an offer that you can make a quick pull-off tab flyer for. Great offers for this include things like e-cigarettes, teeth whitening, weight loss.

Purchase a cheap .info domain name related to your offer, for example if you're promoting an e-cigarette offer in Dallas, register something like quitsmokingdallas.info or similar. Make sure your CPA network allows 100% I-framing, because you are going to I-frame the offer you are promoting on your site, so when people visit your site all they see is the offer and your URL in their address bar. There is plenty of information online regarding how to do this.

Hang these pull-off flyers in high traffic areas such as campuses, downtown, bus stops, bulletin boards, etc. Pull off one or two tabs after you hang the offer to make it look like people have already taken some tabs. Make sure you are targeting the right audience with your offers. The key here is the power of numbers. The more flyers you hang, the more conversions you will get. You can hire people to hang them for you if you can find someone to trust.

That's it for now guys. I hope this helps somebody out there who may be struggling. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask!

    Smart Matt,

This is a pretty helpful post, I agree with you, there are way to many easy ways to get yourself to the 2k per month mark.

Just find something that works, rinse and repeat.

I like how you put it, Slugger. Yep, it's pretty much like a game. It's easier to win if you know how to play.

Awesome suggestions by the way, Matt!

This is just the tip of the iceberg with Offline CPA marketing, the beauty is that there is very little competition offline and so long as your network and Affiliate Manager are cool with offline traffic then you can generate a solid income.

I agree with Method 1 and Method 3, little skeptical about method 2 because I am a fiverr seller and I know how competitive that market is .. Also fiverr stuff is very difficult to resell just like that, but I had seen lot many Warriors ordering my gigs to sell it as a bonus which works very well.

Thanks for sharing your ideas ..

I agree with dotgirish ... I would go for methods 1 and 3 while skipping on method 2 because Fiverr is kinda risky imo, and I don't like that reseller thing in general... but if someone knows what he is doing, it's pretty obvious he can make money... but for most of the people methods 1 and 3 should be pretty good to earn some nice money

      Thanks for the comments guys,

I see some of you are a little skeptical of reselling fiverr gigs. I can assure you with 100% certainty some people are making decent money doing this.

I don't consider anything here to be greyhat or sketchy...I don't venture into that territory. These methods are mainly for newer people who don't yet have a solid business built & may need some quick cash while getting their feet wet with IM at the same time.

Awesome stuff Matt...love the video man! These are the types of methods that all the big IMers out there start with...what I call "bum methods". There is nothing wrong with doing methods like these to earn the initial cash that you can then re-invest into bigger and better business models.

This is exactly how I started building my business.

    Nice share!

      Hey Matt,

You say make a posting on Craigslist for 10 different cities, however, every city needs a different account now, which also needs to be phone-verified. On top of that, I'm not even in the US, and they require US phones to post in US cities (I reside in a little country where this method wouldn't work). Do you know of any work-around?

        Hi Monthy,

It has been a while since I have posted anything on craigslist - so I wasn't aware you need a seperate account for each city now. I remember being able to post in several cities with one account.

I do know you can purchase phone verified craigslist accounts, so that solves your account problem. Perhaps you can purchase PVA's in several cities?

Also, you don't have to promote this on just craigslist - the key here is to be creative and think outside the box a little. I have known people to promote hostgator through newspaper ads, local radio ads, flyers, etc. Once you figure something out you can run with it and start making some money to invest back into your business.

A quick method here - Videology

    1.Create a niche product
2.Make a video about this product
    3.Upload it on youtube
4.Get views and make sales !

Tips how to get more videos to your Youtube Video :

    1.Buy more subscribers !
2.Buy min 500 views to each of your video and some likes (in this way you get to be a trusted seller for your visitors).
3.Create funny video compilations for other niches but insert 5 seconds video advertising for your site or for your other video (remember funny almost always goes viral).

That's all, good method for constant income

Great info. What is the minimum signup requirements for the $50 hostgator commission? Do they just have to signup for the basic hosting package ($9 I think) or something else?

Also, how do hostgator feel about coupon codes? If I try to sweeten the offer by offering a coupon code that say offers the first month hosting for $1, would hostgator get pissed off and either drop or not pay me?

As an affiliate with Hostgator you can create your own coupon codes, and when someone signs up using your coupon code then you get the sale, even if they clicked someone elses affiliate link!

As far as minimum signup requirements, if you only get one signup you will still get the $50. Commissions are verified at the end of each month, 2 months after the sale was sent. Payments are then sent within the first week of the next month.

I really like the idea of method 1. I've thought about being an affiliate for hosting services in the past, but it always deviated from the type of thing I wanted to focus on. However, I think that's a good idea about offering to create the first page of the site.

I'm can't design websites, but I've worked with Wordpress before, and now it's super easy to install on a domain. I'm wondering if just offering free wordpress installation, picking a theme, and writing a little bit on the first page would be enough to entice people to buy through my link?

Edit!: I just found this in their TOS:

"Incentivized commissions, and offering any form of incentive to obtain a sale is forbidden, unless prior approval is given and cleared by HostGator Staff. To inquire on whether your incentive is acceptable, please e-mail affiliates [@] hostgator.com [dot] com"

I don't see why they'd say that, but oh well.

If you just send them an email explaining what you are doing then you shouldn't have any issues.

I never had any problems with this nor has anyone I've known who uses this method. So unless something changed, I would imagine you are fine offering web-design services in exchange for hosting signups.

    Ok thanks, that'd be great.

I was just realizing how someone could go about promoting this using video sites also. You could just make videos discussing the importance of having a website, features of Wordpress, etc, and then at the end as a sort of "by the way", you could put your affiliate link in the bubble along with it in the description as well.

An added tip for#3, the CPA marketing thing is to find a homeless guy/gal, give him/her $5 upfront and tell him/her he/she'll get $5 if you find him/her standing there till the end of the day... then tape your website ad below his/her begging for food ad... just make sure to check up on him/her though out the day and that he/she is standing in a high traffic spot like a supermarket, the mall, or downtown...

Excellent, thought provoking post. Thank you! You've now got me wondering what other hosts have similar affiliate programs. Hmmm? Looks like I've got a side project for today.

    Hi Matt -
Quick question: did you set-up a separate domain just to promote the Host Gator affiliate link - or did you post it to an existing blog, or something like that?

Great Post! Good ideas all over the place, especially like the Craigslist idea. Have had a lot of success with them on selling all kinds of things.

For those who are not sure about Method #2 there are many other options better than Fiverr. As long as you get someone who knows how it is done and get you a lot of sign ups this will work for you.

Cool ideas. I'm trying #1. I posted2 ads on crAigslist yesterday in 2 medium size cities that are relatively close to each other. However I advertised as a free 3 page site or blog. I posted in the small biz services section. Was surprised I was able to post in 2 separate cities with the account I just set up yesterday. It was phone verified but still ...

I like that Hostgator method a lot. HG sure do pay a chunk of change out for commissions.

I know a couple of people who need income fast so I'll put them on to this and report back with how they get on.
