Has this ever been tried before?

Hey guys,

Has anyone ever tried to build a list using SMS/Text and then marketing affiliate products and mobile optimized cpa offers? Just curious if anyone has ever tried this before?

The reason this would be better than email lists is the read rate. Texting has a read rate of between 92-97% in the first five minutes (depends on your source) as well as a much higher response rate.

I thought this forum is more appropriate for this since it is how to make money online, just utilizing offline technology.

I have a little bit of experience with this.

first off, its pretty expensive to send these txt messages. There are several autoresponder type of services that are for building txt messaging lists, but they are all pretty costly.

My experience was probably different than what you are thinking of doing, but it might help a little. I had built an email list of about 1100 highly target business owners in a very specific niche. At first when I was emailing them via aweber, i was getting open rates of 20-40% ish.

since i knew these were "money" guys I didn't mind spending some time and money building this list into a responsive one, so i hired a VA to contact each one individual to "touch base". This helped at first with the open rates, but then they fell off again.

I once again hired a VA to contact them, and this time I had my VA add their cell phone numbers into one of these AR services for txt messaging. When i sent out my next email, i sent out a text message letting them know, and i had an 80% open rate.

i only email this list once a month or so, but every other month I usually send a txt message letting them know about the email and it has kept my open rates above 75% ish consistently.

due to the high costs, I am not sure how effective this will be for more normal consumer type of marketing ventures. I am sure there has to be some server hosted software that you could install and run on your own, but I have no idea about all the technical stuff of getting the txt messages delivered to all the different carriers.

      Hey,

Thanks for telling me about your experience. I already have a successful text message marketing company that works with offline clients so sending out the text wouldn't be a problem. My per text costs are around $0.019 cents a text.

I was just curious if anyone has ever built up a list in a certain demographic and then sent mobile cpa offers or affiliate links through texts. Just seems like there would be a much higher response rate than using email. And the cost wouldn't be that much, probably cheaper than payed traffic.

I asked the same question in this forum a couple of months back. I remember Willie Crawford saying that he utilizes a technique like this but I'm unsure of the intricacies of the whole process. I'd be interested to find out for sure.

yeah,i did what your talking about. not cpa. dirext tv.
worked really, really well.would still be doing it, except
they decided to not pay me. There inbound phone system kept
crashing due to volume of calls. they bilked me of a TON of money.
Said they kept losing money and it was my fault !

pm me if you want to talk about it.
