Woo Hoo! Finally broke the $1k Amazon Milestone!

I've been plugging away with Amazon for almost a year now and just checked my account, TOTAL EARNINGS *$1,061.83... and there's 11 days left in the month!

I almost made it past $1,000 in October, November was around $850... google dance to blame.

I'm so happy I've passed this milestone! MY earnings only started to take off around mid September.

I'm so grateful to this site and all your help... my plan was simple, to hit $1k in online earnings by September 2011... took until October (some other online earnings)

I'm sure there's lots of new frustrated warriors on here... don't give up, and don't loose focus.

One of my main problems, which hits us all I guess, is trying too many things at once... At one stage I was doing Amazon, Clickbank, Adsense and offline marketing... Around April, I decided to focus most of my attention on Amazon.

I guess, find what works for you, or what you're comfortable with... and stick with it.

Another tip... JUST DO IT... I spent a lot of time reading, learning etc... took me a while to get the finger out, and actually start building sites... 2 of my early Amazon atempts are still chugging along, bringing in the odd sale... I went about them all wrong, but, who cares!

Your first site may be rubbish, second... also rubbish... It's all a learning process... don't expect to become an expert over night.

I've still lots more to learn... but it's a fun process...

I took 2 weeks off earlier this month, checked my account afterward, and made $500... I love this job

Best of luck to you.

      Sure

Invested in an amazon course, Jan Roos's physical affiliate.

I wasn't a beginner to affiliate marketing at that stage, but the course helped steer me in the right direction.

Read a lot on here... this is an excellent thread, http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ing-money.html

I did my own take on your typical review site... I noticed theres so many amazon review clone sites out there... Luckly I'm a web designer, so, I was able to create my own look easy enough.

I stuck at it, until my main site was on page 1 for my main keywords...

I spent around $300 on back linking services... I still don't like SEO, my least favourite part... but I'm slowly starting to understand it better.

I learned that picking the right product and keyword is probably the most important factor... in the beginning, I was going after the wrong keywords... information keywords, not buying keywords.

I included more video in my reviews, and not crappy animoto... this definitly helped.

I concentrated most of my efforts on amazon... I'm still trying to make some cash with adsense, i've 2 sites out of 6, pulling in around $20 a month... i see adsence more of a challenge now

If you pick the right product, target the right keywords, rank for them, and get decent traffic... my main earner gets around 10k visits a month... then you'll make money... providing your site is built right.

      Well done!

I've just started getting somewhere with my Amazon review sites (largely due to the Christmas buyer traffic, no doubt!) and am determined to expand them in the coming year.

Bigger "authority" review sites, as opposed to mini-sites, are working best for me.

      Keep at it.

Congrats. I broke the $1000/month milestone in October.

It's that time of year, but I guess things will slow down a lot in January. There is already signs of that now.

    Hi thedog,

Great thread and super inspirational for all of the newbies...

Many think that is it super hard to get great earnings like this with Amazon.com, but once you get going and focus on only this the magic begins to happen.

This is the line I would most like to point out to all, this is where the money is at. Learn to FOCUS on one method no matter what!

Congrats. You made the right decision by deciding to focus on one thing instead of too many things. You chose amazon, somebody else can do the same thing with clickbank or offline marketing or product creation etc.

The trick is to focus on one system and plug at it till you make it work. Learn from mistakes, make amendments where necessary, improve where you can and keep working at it till you succeed at the system. Of course, you have to chose a proven system to begin with.

thedog, Awesome work. I have an Amazon site that I've been working on for a while now and it's ranking. I got into the whole Amazon business by seeing how the gurus made it seem easy i.e Conversions are effortless and just simple SEO will do.

Not the case in my opinion. CR is not greater than 10% and SEO is very hard in the physical niches because Google now favors retail and ecommerce sites because they have the order button in there. These sites are not bridge pages.

I'm not being negative. But this is a true fact. Unless you pick really hot products that don't go out of market soon with keyword rich domains and optimize, you'll make very little with Amazon.

Generic keywords are a no-no. When you see PPC prices for the ads, you'd think its making money. It's not because all the sites that are advertising are using brand awareness i.e Amazon, target, Ebay and many others.

Earlier, there used to be affiliates who figured out ways. Now it's all crap.

    Cheers to your success!

    Harry

I'll play the Amazon game for a while maybe. But not a long term strategy in my opinion. Best choice would be to build product specific sites, get them on top... Does it make money? If so, get a dropshipping program membership. Sell the product through drop shipping and be very informative about the product on the website so google figures you to be off enough authority to be number #1

That'd be the best idea. Build different product name sites in the same niche and link them all to be a part of the same group.

Sorry dude, I could show you, but then I'd have to kill you

All I can say is, the early versions looked a lot like your typical "amazon review theme" sites, google is riddled with them.

90% of my earnings are from 1 site. It's just reviewing one type of appliance, I'll admit it is seasonal, Oct-Jan.. then traffic will drop.

I never set out to target seasonal traffic, as I hadn't a clue about this back when I started.

I'm now targeting both seasonal and all year round traffic... I have 6 other sites, 3 of which I'll be focusing on big time.

Congrats! I just started really monetizing my blog this month with Amazon. My blog is based around saving money, and Amazon tends to have a lot of deals this time of year. So far, I've managed to make $113 this month with Amazon alone and I originally wasn't going to be using them at all! I had only noticed that most of the other blogs around my niche promoted Amazon deals, so I started doing the same. Glad I did! My goal for 2012 is to try and reach up to 3k a month with Amazon and some other affiliate marketing I use.

I just read Jan's ebook, and I think I'm going to start creating a website based on what I read. My blog is really my baby.. so I don't want to distract myself away from that too much. I'll just slowly add more review sites and go from there.

Good stuff... product and keyword (buying) selection is key... if you're already making money with your blog, well, you're ahead of the game and should have no trouble bringing in a steady income from a nice amazon site.

I'm still not 'there' yet right now with Amazon but it's slowly getting up there and basically I've come to the same conclusion as you, trying to do too much with too many techniques jumping back and forth... I use Market Samurai and GKT (google keyword tool... for newbies)

I'm a bit obsessed with EMD's... I need to look into this more, find out if they're really worth it or not.

If I can't find a good EMD, I walk away... again, this could be bad practice... need to research this more.

I target buying keywords, over 1k exact matches a month... usually 3k+

I only worry about who's on the 1st page of google for my competition.

Market Samurai is invaluable for SEO competition.

I Also use the allinanchor prefix for google, lets you know if you competition from page one are activly targeting your specific, exact keyword.

I also like to use googles instant feature... this give you a very quick idea of popular keywords, so, type in best automatic PRODUCT.... usually reviews pops up.

If you disable google instant, in google settings, you can get 10 rather than 5 instant results.

Cheers Dave, ye, staying on track can be difficult and really does require serious focus.

There was a great report I read a while back... can't think of the name right now, saved on an external hard disk... later here, so will try and find it tomorrow... pretty sure it's free, mind bender I think it was called.

Anyway, stick with it... I know its shopping season, and my traffic will drop, but, a milestone is a milestone.... they're far and few between... but they give you that extra little pep to keep on going.

This is a game of attrition!

Best of luck to you Dave

I have 1 site, brining in 90% of my revenue, I worked hard on this, and it paid off.

2 early attempts, that bring in a trickle every now and then.

2 more, finished, and working on ranking, which is my least favourite part... goes for a lot of us I guess.

      2 more in development.
