Green/Environment Niche Blog? Advice?

I started an "environmental" blog in mid November 2011 and worked on it hardcore day and night till present day.. This is my first ever website on WordPress

Nov 22-Dec 22 (from Google Analytics)
Rounded Stats:
1100 Unique visitors
5000 Pageviews
59% Bounce

Most of this traffic is generated by paid social media campaigns or by manual social bookmarking.. (I'm working on SEO)

Would you consider this as a "good start"? Any good $$$ potential for this niche?

Now, I'm not one of those money hungry guys that care ONLY about the money... but its a concern for me - since I outsource the content and I've spent quite a bit on it already. I've implemented some CPA commission ads.. however my content isn't really "promoting" those ads/products (don't want to turn into a 'spammy' affiliate marketers' sales blog..)

I'm also focussing a lot on branding... which, imo, will make the site stand out from the crowd...

I need some advice in terms of monetizing ... I've done massive amounts of research but I came here for advice from experts/"people who have done this before" ..

Am I wasting my time and money  I feel like I'm too anal about the quality of my site and I'm always wanting to improve it - however, im unsure of the revenue potential. I'm also unsure what I "want" out of all this (whether it be affiliate marketer or establishing a company)

Thoughts guys?

On a side note, I'm excited to learn more in this awesome forum!

I think it is a good start.

Keep going, caring about your website too much can be a very good thing.

Just be sure to develop a plan for your website. Are you trying to build an authority website in the niche?

I think that before you decide how you are going to monetize the site, you should look in depth at why people looking at your site.

I could not imagine adwords (at first glance) to be very productive for a site dealing with this topic.

I would imagine that it might be more productive to hook up with a large solar panel company or something like that, as that is something that a lot of your visitors may be interested in.

Or you could look into all the pros and cons of installing renewable energy, write an e-book and sell it on the site:

"Do not even think about installing renewable energy devices until you've read this!!"

or something along those lines. That way, you can keep providing excellent content without comprimising the integrity of the site.

Yes, I want to establish an authority site and a sense of brand on the internet .. This isn't a one-man's blog (collaborative) so I think my site has potential for quick growth

I often plan but I feel like I don't stick to my plans - I feel like I'm a very good "thinker" and I come up with all sorts of ideas but I keep changing my plans around.
So now, I have a lot of ideas and plans but really don't know which is the "right" path to take (if you know what I mean)

Great ideas - I've touched upon the ideas you suggested before... (during the many brainstorming sessions that I have)..

Writing an ebook is already planned, however, I really doubt there is much revenue potential for ebooks unless I have some sort of authority.. It's almost as if every blog has an ebook for sale or for free. (conversions would probably be rare)

I've also gained a few contacts in the solar panel industry (seems like this is where the big money is, for my niche) but I personally don't support the solar panel industry that much and I feel that this type of industry doesn't perform well in terms of eCommerce. One established (10+ years) solar panel company actually wanted me to help them in some way in terms of marketing because of their poor business performance... (Let's face it - solar panels is an old technology and never really went "mainstream" into the consumer markets)

I think I should just continue improving the site and provide quality content and not worry too much about the earnings like the many other people.
But I'm breaking my bank (being so dedicated to the site)

Sounds like a good start to me. Good traffic for a new blog. Keep adding unique content and doing what you're doing.
