As an Internet marketer, do you need to be on the road to do marketing ?

Hi

Today I was surprised to see an internet marketer distributing pamphlets on the road.. He was very well dressed and it was clear that he was doing it by himself without outsourcing the distribution work to distribution boys

He was basically looking for people who can work along with him from home..He also gave me one pamphlet.

Did any of you guys have done this ?

Never tried it because to me it seems a very inefficient way of driving traffic to your site

While this guy is spending all day handing out leaflets I would be sat at home driving 1000X more traffic to the same site with far less work.

Maybe he was looking to get local people to sign on for a promotional product

I have a hard enough time getting traffic via the internet, never min going "door to door"

I would say forget it and keep doing what you are doing

yeah that seems like an extremely inefficient method and also probably not the best if you are trying to build a reputable image. I guess it's an offline tactic, but is most likely costing him much more in time than it's producing in results.

lol, You guys need to ask Kenster in the CPA section about this one. It might be much more lucrative than you think.

I would not be shocked to discover those flyers included a "visit this page" type of message where people needed to fill out a simple form to start working with him from home. Then each time someone took that action he probably pocketed $8-$15 from a CPA offer.

He might not be as crazy as you think.

      I totally agree Barry.

Offline to online can be very effective when done right.

Reading some of the peoples comments in this thread, they are spending a lot of time trying to generate leads online.

Also remember, you most likely need a 100x more leads then if you met with someone face to face about your product or service.

Barry you just said a mouthfull of true. While out and about you still get the WHAT! factor. WHAT? You mean you can make money on that web thingy?? Offline is where the pre Newbies hang out.

I have handed out brochures to Offline Clients while promoting my Online Services, but this man is sending the wrong message to Work At Home prospects. Any downline he builds has the tendency to promote in the same way they were promoted to, and most people will subconsciously get the message that he is Not at home and that They do not want to hand out brochures.

He would have been better off by leaning against a luxury car surrounded by beautiful women who were handing out brochures, because every guy wants to be That guy.

Hope this helps in your decisions

Ah, but there's the rub...You're talking about building a downline, I'm talking about making money by them just taking a simple no cost action. Many CPA offers can be promoted very successfully offline.

It sort of reminds me of the people who stand around airports all
day trying to get you to apply for an airline credit card. 99% of
people passing by will say no, but they still find it very profitable.

I'd ask that marketer what his full model is.

Regardless, it is still a very inefficient use of his time. Classified ads reach more people, and have a targeting aspect. Personally, I wouldn't use this approach unless the offer appealed to a very broad market, or paid exceedingly well. Even then, I think there are better ways to promote.

    Just saying

Dito that - no one here can tell if it is or isn't profitable.

There was a really good case study here on the Warrior Forum where someone knocked up flyers for a woodworking product on Clickbank. He used a domain redirect and paid someone on a stall to let him put his leaflets out.

He made several hundred dollars and cut the stall owner in on the profits from just one successful days work. The rub was that the stall was at a very specific woodwork convention or show of sorts so the traffic was very targeted.

    Offline > Online marketing works.

Although I think its impossible to know if that guy was making any money with what he was doing, it does bring up an interesting topic. So many of us are glued to computer screens that we miss the bigger picture of marketing sometimes. Anyway, it can't hurt to get out and get some fresh air once in a while
