I am done with Hubpages...

I have had my account up and my hubs up for over a year now with no issues, but just the other day any hub that had an affiliate link in it got unpublished and were all marked overly promotional... So I made sure all my hubs only had 1 link each and re submitted for review. They all got marked as overly promotional again, so I am done with them I will find something better...

Its unfortunate they also took a hit from the panda update and are now trying to up their game. But still, disallowing even 1 affiliate link is a big NO NO. Better post your content elsewhere

Hubpages = Adsense Earnings, Not Affiliate Earnings

I set this rule for myself 2 years ago. Good thing I did.

You create small pages on another website (like hubpages) to dominate small long tail keywords, by taking advantage of their authority, which will bring in small amounts of traffic and clicks that will make you money. Publish enough articles targeting long tail keywords and you will make good money.

If you want to make money using affiliate offers you can make your own website, develop solid copy, and implement marketing strategies that will drive targeted traffic to your website.

Hubpages will come back. It will regain it's authority in Google. All it has to do is comply.

If you want to promote anything, it's better to buy your own domain.

Free sites are cool for testing out niches and things of the like, but once you've made money in it, you really need to put things on your own domain so that you can have control over your content. I learned the hard way when Squidoo did the same thing to me a couple of years ago. There are a number of other advantages, too, like being able to build a list or having a piece of "virtual real estate" that can be sold for quick sums of cash. Once you get the hang of everything, it's quite simple -- even if you're not a techie.

If you're interested in training, I recommend you check out Unstoppable Affiliate by Andrew Hansen and Josh Stanton. Although the main course is all you need to get it working, they also offer an optional coaching program on the back-end. Oh, I should also mention that it's not one of those courses where you'll find a lot of hype of junk software. It focuses on building your knowledge and skill set as a marketer -- quality stuff.

    Good luck,
    Joey

Agreeing with Eddie--hubpages is good as a source of a link and a tiny trickle of traffic to your actual site. Relying on them for anything else doesn't make sense in light of Panda.

My first hubpage was just banned in under a week - no affiliate links at all - just one link to a blog page.

HubPages has gotten so strict that I can't continue to use them in my link building strategy. That's a shame. Squidoo is getting more and more strict, too.

I dumped HubPages once I could no longer have my own articles both on my Hub page and on my own blog.

Silly to write content for someone else when I can make the content work so much harder for me on my own site.

I use Hubpages when building linkwheels to rank my blog posts, rather than relying on hubs to make affiliate sales. I think it's best that way.

I did actually start off by building linkwheels that all point to a hub containing a product review with an affiliate link, but I had the same issue you had. You can get hit really hard if you're relying on something like Hubpages, so it's definitely worth doing the affiliate marketing via your blog and/or list.
