should i buy a Hyphenated Domain Name?

I'm planning on doing a review site for a single niche product. the domain name i wanted is already taken but i can buy one with blank-blank-blank.com. is this a good idea? Can i still rank in seo with this?

Yes, you can still rank with this, but a domain w/o '-' is preferred.

Sorry, Felicia, but this just isn't so. There are hundreds of threads here discussing it, and many of them contain a link to a little video of Google's Matt Cutts explaining openly that it isn't true.

Hyphenation does not affect SEO/rankings in any way. Domains without hyphens are not "preferred".

Yeah you will be fine with that, there are a number of sites with two dashes that rank #1 for high search volume keywords. Just remember, you've gotta build links to your homepage using variations of anchor text set as the keyword phrase you want to rank for.

Most of my sites have hyphenated domains, and I've gotten all of them in the top ten for their keywords- some took a long time and lot of work but it's not a dealbreaker by any means.

You will still be able to rank over time with hyphens but the less you have around your keywords the better. I would look at .net and .orgs before heading to the hyphens.

For hyphenated domain names ranking it seems they do as well as non-hyphenated for ranking purposes however, the preference is for only one hyphen or to minimize hyphens usage in combination with a dotcom suffix.

If you have three or more hyphens it begins to look not as professional. Instead of multiple hyphens I'd suggest getting domains without hyphens but instead of .com get other suffixes such as .info, .net., .org etc.

You can rank hyphenated domains just as well as any other domain. I use them and rank them just as easily as any other domain.
