    Hi WCSM,

I hadn't heard of it but it looks quite tasty. But I'd still rather have an good old fashioned English fry up. I wonder if they could try rolling up one of those in a 'weaved mat of bacon?'

Is 'spackled' an American word? (From paragraph 8)

The two spackled the bacon mat with a layer of sausage
BTW Totally useless sidenote - do Americans realise that since McD's arrived here and introduced many of us to hash browns for the first time, they appear to have been adopted as part of a traditional English (breakfast) fry up - no mean feat, as the fry up is a tradition very close to some of our hearts (I used to be a builder :-))

    I didn't need to read this -

Bacon has already invaded my chocolate
habit and it makes a great topper for
Ben and Jerry's One Sweet Whirled ice
    cream.

My favorite - bacon dogs in Tijuana.

I'm lucky to still be alive.

      Hi X,

I've actually invented two of my own recipes based around bacon -

      1. Bacon Chow Mein

Beansprouts, noodles, soy sauce and chopped & fried bacon. Eat with chopsticks.

      2. Bacon Kebab

Toasted pitta bread, diced lettuce, cucumber and celery, chopped & fried bacon

Seriously, I cook and eat those meals. The chow mein can be a bit fatty, but the kebabs are totally addictive.

It's tough to go wrong with bacon -
I've got to try and put that Kebab
        together. Sounds good.

        Mmm. Bacon.

Do people really value their time so little that they're willing to spend it weaving bacon?!

    Good grief

      Hi Diana,

Do people really value their time so little that they're willing to spend it weaving bacon?!
In comparison to the activities that the majority claim to spend their working week waiting for, weaving bacon is probably more constructive, and often less destructive.

Speaking as chairman of the committee of my local bacon-weaving society, I would also add that the bacon weavers I know take a reasonably dim view of those who have never actually tried it, but spend their time discussing it on marketing forums.

Once we have eaten our bacon explosions, we actually spend much of our time weaving bacon blankets for the poor, weaving bacon clothes for the homeless (doubles up as food if they are hungry) and we won an award for our bacon-based reproduction of the Bayeux tapestry.

Once your society can knit custard as well as I can, then they can take a dim view of my attitude to bacon-weaving

I think you missed a key point here... this is a team of Competition Barbecuers.

This little "stunt" got them 16,000 inbound links and who knows how much additional attention, and fame.

Methinks this was no waste of time!

One of the inventors of the recipe is an internet marketer.

I wonder if anyone knows who...
