Niche forum, looking for some help

My forum is in my sig, I hope that is not against the rules. Its a road racing forum so its not a huge traffic site but it gets some and has a small member base.

Im currently at PR5 for the site and I'm looking to monetize possibly from it outside of ad-sense.

I have been told I could possibly sell links on it, maybe in one of the threads dedicated to site linking?

Sorry, I'm new to all of this for the most part and would appreciate any insight.

Whenever you have traffic, there are many different ways to monetize. I wouldn't recommend adsense anyway, I am surprised people still click on those. Find a related business that want's to advertise, or a CPA offer or product. Anything really can help. I have a amazon car related site as well, I would just have a section with really good helpful info, and maybe have some car related commission products and ads on there. Just make sure it's relative, well placed, good looking, and not random. With track racing, maybe reach out to all of the main US tracks, and get an agreement with them to advertise and feature them on your site, and they can throw you some clams.

I get like 30 bucks a month from ad sense which isnt great but I really dont know whats legit out there.

Thanks for the other thread but I read that and it didnt answer my question.

Im not worried about a dollar amount but more of like the execution of the link. I do link backs in my forum and just wanted to make sure if I do it, its to the benefit of the person paying so they arent getting cheated.

Take a look at your "For sale" section. Are there a lot of activities going on? Are there people joining your forum just to sell stuff?

You can create a pay to start thread for your "For sale" forum. In that way, you can earn money each time someone wants to sell some stuff.

Start with $5 or $10 to post in that, you should make some good money. Just see WSO in our forum, you'll know what I mean.

You can place products from clickbank or amazon that are related to your site as an affiliate or search from google for other related products that you can become an affiliate of.

You could also set up a page within the category section of your website and do a review of all these products that you are an affiliate of.

Having adsense on your site can earn you money. However, that can also lead your visitors away by clicking on it and not visiting your product page or your affiliate offers.

        hope this helps
