How much traffic to realistically expect

For some of the more experienced and successful warriors here, how much traffic daily should one have in order to see the kind of success you are having now? In other words how much traffic do you generally get daily on your best site?

My best sites get 400-500 visitors a day, but the one that makes the most money only gets about 30 visitors a day. That's because the traffic is targeted to the niche, but as it's a fairly new site without much marketing it has a lot more scope for traffic.

The amount of traffic is not the point.

It is the quality of traffic. If you are selling a product - you need highly targeted traffic - that is people who are ready to buy your product.

You could make just as much money with 10 highly targeted visitors as you could with 1000 untargeted visitors.

Think quality first - and then worry about the numbers after.

Yes, I totally agree. If you are selling a product or service of your own, targeted traffic is more important then the amount of traffic you get. Also, I have found that going around to social networks, such as ning sites and talking to people and getting to know people is a much more effective way to sell your service or product. The more people get to know you and trust you, the better your odds of a sale. However, lots of highly targeted traffic is good. The only time tons of un targeted traffic may be good is if you are trying to make money with ad revenue. Like an adsense site or something.

The next question I guess is the best way to get highly targeted traffic. I know I asked about traffic before but I get 10-20 visitors daily to my product site. From ezine articles and forum links but really not having the conversion.

Well, what is your niche, and what are you doing to achieve organic search engine traffic? Getting organic traffic from google or yahoo on specific keywords is one good way to get targeted traffic. You would have to do research on your niche and choose keywords that would be most likely to bring a sale, and then SEO efforts on your site combined with backlinking and self promotion through social networks. But you may be able to eventually achieve getting some good organic traffic for some keywords with a decent search volume. You would also have to do research on those keys and determine which would be the best to try and rank for. Determining which have the strongest SEO comp. and which have SEO comp you could realistically compete with. I feel that organic traffic is the best way to get targeted traffic and the best part is its free. It takes some time and some research but with some time invested you can make it happen. What I do, is while I am working on my sites SEO and trying to gain PR and get organic, I do social network marketing to get immediate results until my rank improves and I start dragging in organic. I track my visits so I know how many come from organic and how many come from soc. nets. And I optimize constantly until I see the percentage of organics getting bigger. I build a some backlinks everyday, constantly check my SEO score and Alexa rank and improve it daily until I start getting a decent rank. AJ

Easy Cash hit it on the head. Targetted visitors/traffic is what matters here not the amount of traffic you're receiving. Next thing to look at would be your conversion rates. Just changing a few simple things on your site, like testing different pricing points, can result in a significant increase in your earnings without requiring more traffic.

The niche you're in and how you earn revenue also plays a roll. I had one site that sold a product and earned more money with 50 visitors day then an entertainment site I owned that received over 2000 visitors a day making money solely off advertisements.
