Building a list

Hey guys, I am new to this forum and look forward to discussing IM with everyone. To give a little background about myself, I plan on opening a website where I would of course use the necessary steps to build a list. Which are:

1. Create a website

2. create valuable unique content on your site

3. drive traffic to your site

4. get people to opt-in to your list.

Anyways, I had a question that has been on my mind for a few days and seems that I cannot find the answer. Now my question is, I noticed that some Internet marketers just have a squeeze page on their site and just drive traffic to it to get people to opt-in to their offer. I can see how this can work temporarily but is there any evergreen strategies that can be used to promote your squeeze page without using PPC and also not totally relying on google for rankings and instead use free methods such as forum marketing, blog commenting, social bookmarking etc. So instead of the previous steps can you do:

1. Create a squeeze page with an offer

2. drive traffic to the squeeze page?

3. Continue to receive a consistent opt-in rate everyday.

Help to this question will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Excellent question. And the answer is, you can do anything you like!

    Never feel like you have to get validation for ideas if they sound useful; the best way to learn Internet marketing is to give yourself permission to try.

    I myself use blogging to build my list, product creation to build my list....funny thing, I do *not* yet use squeeze pages. Go figure.

    Nice choice joining this forum. You can even build your list through this forum too! Just put a link to your signup page in your signature like I have (and many others have) and you will get more sign ups (but only if you post a lot).

    I like that you have a plan. Many people just go out there without knowing what they are going to do and waste a lot of time and money. I think you have a good chance at what you are planning. Good luck!

    On-topic: You can use article syndication to it's fullest capacity in order to drive floods of targeted traffic to your squeeze page - that of which you can capture and begin building a relationship with

    There are dozens of models of how to make it all work. Your suggestion works perfectly but there are two keys.
    First, your optin page needs to have an irresistible offer that makes people really think it is worth trading their info for.
    Second, you have to get lots of traffic to it. You can get it from forum signature lines, blog commenting, Youtube videos with link in description, articles with good signatures, etc. Tons of ways but it is all a numbers game.
    The Third key is to just not give up.
    Fourth and most important, don't become a perpetual student that doesn't DO what you've learned. You obviously have learned some good models. Way too many people just keep trying to learn more and never actually DO any of it. That make an internet marketing business a hobby instead of a business.

      Hey thanks for the reply I really appreciate it. When it comes to getting traffic to your squeeze page I know that from the first day it would perform pretty well since it's new but after say a month, your opt-in rates will drop since it's aged. Is there any evergreen strategies that will work without using PPC or paid methods?

    Everyone thanks for the replies really appreciate it. Another question would opt-in rates go up if you were say:

    Provide valuable content but split up the content into say 4 parts and provide the first two pieces of content on your site and the last two parts they would have to opt-in to receive the last two parts?

    hey chris

    well currently i use, a landing page, give a offer for them to optin, and build my relationship with them through my autoresponder, then send them to my blog and continue building my relationship with my customers. You can also sell your offer for say $1 on your landing page to get people that are serious about buying so that way your building a list of buyers. the good thing is you have planned it out beleive me it helps if you plan it out first then put the funnel together either its all about testing and seeing what works for you... well thats my experience anyway
