Started my list and getting subscribers consistently...now what?

Hi guys,

I finally started to build my list and can see subscribers steadily opting in.

There are many courses/products on how to build lists but not much on how to 'use' a list.

Any suggestions from those who havebuild their list?

Thanks.

Start sending them pitches for affiliate products, like amazon and clickbank products. Send them cool articles and videos you find, or ones you write or make. If you're in the IM niche, join Safe Swaps and start trading solos with people.

      HI Harrison,
How is your experience with Safe Swaps? I like to have an estimate of how many swaps before adding 1K new subscribers.

Harrison makes some good point. Make sure to provide them with relevant content that is valuable! Balance out the valuable content emails with the sales pitch emails

Give them value and information that they can actually use and that will actually benefit them.

Tell them what actually works for you.

Give them a product pitch every once in a while.

      Hi Jeremy,

I actually had information overload when starting to build my list.

I created something (not plr) to give to subscribers.

I've had some success with JV giveaways (I didn't upgrade). The numbers are not too big by I see around 5 or subscribers per day. My squeeze page is maybe also one factor that helped. Last time I checked it was converting at 80% but the numbers are still small to make a conclusion.

Next would be to so some solo ads...got a list of solo ad vendors and contacting some now to see which ones would be the best for my requirements.

Yes...it is quite high based on what I've read from experienced list builders. But like I said its been out for a limited time only and with less than 100 unique clicks so and its too early to make any conclusions. I did logged in to Aweber to check the latest conversion rate and it even increased to 87.1%.

Funny thing is I don't even remember if I got the SQ as a template or if I did it myself.

Making is list is more difficult then using it lol.

and other warriors have already gave you good suggestions. Just make sure you are promoting relevant offers/products to your list. Keep In touch with your list and make your trust to your list then they will take action on your offers and emails.

      Hi Mark,

Well I'm building a list to have a ready made traffic source. Those I can share information with and products.

I guess I didn't make my first post clear enough I should have also asked specific questions like how often to send a message, autoresponder or broadcast, subject lines. If you have something you'd want to share I appreciate it.

I deleted my reply thinking you wasn't interested in the answer, meanwhile you were probably typing out your reply above, so good timing. Rescued just in time.

Well, the purpose of list building is essentially all about building up a very good relationship with your list subscribers.

Each time somebody gives you their name and email address these opt in's are worth to you on average $1 per person per month each.

So the more people in total you have on your list, potentially the more money you can make per month.

But of course there is a distinction...

If for example, you give something away for free, let's say a short report or an eBook, these opt in subscribers aren't going to be as valuable to you compared to those individuals who have actually paid for something directly from you in the past.

It is these opt in subscribers who you want to treat like gold dust.

Pitch to them over and over again and chances are sooner or later you're going to royally piss a few of them off and they'll simply end up unsubscribing.

On the other hand... if you provide your list subscribers with 2 -3 emails per week via your chosen autoresponder providing them only with very valuable free information which ultimately they'll find very useful to them, (with not a sales pitch in sight), obviously their trust in you is only going to increase. And the more trust you have in the eyes of your list subscribers the more credibility you're going to enjoy.

So in week 4 they're not going to mind so much when you pitch a product at them which might just be of great interest to them.

Something even a lot of top marketers seem to forget is that people buy into products, goods and services on emotion. And the same is true when communicating with your list subscribers. Take their emotions for granted, treat them like fodder and you'll struggle to make a good impression.

However, if you treat your subscribers with the respect they deserve by building up a meaningful relationship with them all, giving them tips, advice or general help and positive encouragement, they'll appreciate this a lot more and reward you in week 4 with a lot more sales than if you pitch them every single day.

In a nutshell, treat your list subscribers as you yourself would wish to be treated under the best ideal circumstances and you won't go far wrong.

Imagine having 50,000 or 100,000 or even 1/4 of a million subscribers on your autoresponder subscriber list. Treat them with disrespect and not only could you see your numbers tumbling down dramatically but your sales too could suffer significantly - if you don't treat them right.

Conversely, treat them well and each of those subscribers will recommend you to other people, family, friends and colleagues and so your good reputation grows and your bottom line profits too.

        Best regards,

        Mark Andrews

Once you have a list, you really have to offer value to them so they grow to like and trust you. People buy from people they like. Here are some things you can do to build rapport and get people to like you, but monetize it in a non-douche way:

          1) Free Content!
Free reports are awesome. Browse through niche-related forums and see what people are talking about. Find a hook you can write a little report (5-7 pages) around. Make it good and interesting, and don't use it as a front to a pitch, just deliver value.

Then, at the end of the report, add a final page (as in AFTER your name and signature) with the heading something like "Resources" or "Products by [Your Name]"... Then simply list your products in a list-form using their headlines with a "Click Here" beneath them, like this:

          [Headline of product #1]

          [Headline of product #2]

That way, they can read your report, get the content, and see the value. And the "pitch" really isn't even a pitch (or more importantly doesn't SEEM like one), since it's at the end of the report out of the way.

However, people will be curious, especially after reading the free content and seeing that you know your stuff. They'll see the headlines of the links and -- since you're using the headlines of your products that are meant to entice the reader anyway -- they'll click through to check the offers out.

Easy, simple, non-salesly, and it works. I sell several copies of products each week using this strategy, and because I'm providing value first and foremost, my subscribers thank me for it. (Literally.)
          2) Blog Posts - Video Training
I love doing free video training, or free videos on my blog in general. With blogs, people can leave comments (usually positive lol) about your content or share it via social media tools... And more importantly, other people can see that interaction.

Disable the blog comment dates so your content looks more evergreen and recent, and more people will follow and want to respond. I used this tactic and -- after giving away AWESOME quality content for free on my blog -- got over 60 responses from one blog post.

But an important note here is that it's the quality of the content that matters. In other words: don't create **** content.
          3) Use What Frank Gives You (Frank = Frank Kern)
First of all, Frank is one awesome marketer and knows his stuff.

With that said, he has the strategy called the Triangle of Trust, which basically works like this:

Instead of using emails to pitch someone something, instead use the email solely to get them to click through to a blog post.

On that blog post, offer valuable content. Kinda like from #1 above. But at the end of the free content, include a pitch for the product you're promoting, and put a link below the video saying something like "Click here to check out [product, etc]".

          This does a couple things:

          A) "Trains" people to click through links... (example: they click through the link in the email to check out the blog post, then watch the video on the post. They're already committed and for sake of staying consistent with their actions will usually click through the link below the video and check out the offer.)

          B) You're giving away value/content BEFORE even asking for something. This builds reciprocity with your subscribers. The whole "Hey I went through all this trouble to make this free content I thought you could benefit from. The least you could do is check out this really cool thing, and all you have to do is click the link right below the video" thing.
          4) Surveys!
          Surveys are awesome. Why? Well...
          • They allow you to connect directly with your subscribers, so it opens the dialogue between you.
          • They give you a direct insight into what the people you're marketing to actually want. Survey results can equal product ideas, which is a self-sustaining business. Survey to see what people want, create it, then give it to them via special offer.
One thing I've done with surveys that has worked like crazy is: ask people what they want to know about most, or what their biggest problems with ____ are. Then tell them that if they respond, they'll get a copy of the product for free when you create it.

The amount of responses you get will be ridiculous. Even people that don't usually respond will respond, simply for the free product.

Now don't get all concerned. First, not everyone will respond, so you won't be giving away your money. Second, you can still monetize that "give away" with a back end offer. Third, this will lead to more responsive subscribers. Fourth, the ideas you'll get from this email will easily fuel 10-15 product ideas, if not more. Use this to expand your product line, or even use them to create the back end offer for that first free one.

Easy, eh? And your subscribers will love it because you're giving them what they want in a way that's enormously beneficial to them. Why WOULDN'T they respond to you?
These are obviously just a few things you can do, but I've personally used them all in my own business and have had extremely positive results.

And not just monetary results either... I try to give as much value to my subscribers as possible and that shows. I answer emails, respond to blog comments, and in general give a ****. Picked that up from Gary Vaynerchuk, and it's definitely worth its weight in gold.

          Hope this helps.

          -Tom

Use your list to frame your prospects. In other words, don't pitch anything. Get them thinking about what they want (eventually your product). A good way to do this is find stories relating to the product you're going to offer.

For example. Say you have a cure for nail fungus. Find stories related to that topic, put the story into your own words, indirectly connecting the situation to your product. Let them know you share their pain.

Build trust over a long series of useful responders, then make the offer of your product that will cure their suffering.

Build trust without pitching is how to use your list.

build a good relationship with them, get them to trust you, give them some good valuable content, and start selling affiliate products, they will soon start buying form you... weave out the freebie seekers to buyers, but keep that relationship with them.
