Separating The Winners From The Losers (Which are you)

Are you willing to go the extra mile...

First, I'm not making $10,000,000 in my sleep like 90% of you do. I have a full time job, wife, kid, etc. But I make enough on the side that I'm pretty confident I could make a full time living if I needed/wanted to with "IM".

But here's the thing. For the past 12 months or so I've been doing just enough.

Here's an example... I'm in the process of building a niche network of adsense sites. My criteria for keywords was like everyone elses, 1000 searches, $1cpc, etc. I thought I was doing the right thing.

But as I've come to learn doing enough, just isn't enough.

A real life example from last night...
I'm also working on an authority site so I was doing more keyword research. Only thing time I changed my definition of an acceptable keyword.

So guess what I did... I build a database of over 900,000 keywords all related to my market that I can now evaluate and really pick the cream of the crop.

I spent about an hour last night with the keywords and I've already identified about 90 keywords that are absolute gold mines.

And no, there's no keyword research WSO coming.

My point is, winners go the extra mile. They work harder, smarter, etc. They're willing to put in the 10,000 hours to be an expert while the average folks won't.

So in 2012 are you going to be a winner or loser? I'm making it my mission for 2012 to put everything I have into whatever I'm doing. Average is no longer going to be good enough.

So join me. And let's all be successful!

That good to hear. Yes, IM does take work and commitment. I think over the past few year most products neglected the fact that you need to put in work...

Dude, that superduper keyword research system uses google keyword tool and microsoft excel. Doesn't offer a single affiliate link, and there is nothing for sale.

I just used keyword research as an example. And there's no "system" it's bruteforce data collection and smart manipulation of the data in a way no keyword tool does it. (and I've tried em all).

So yeah, I'm looking to get rich selling the google adwords tool and excel. Killer plan.

So here's a different example. I've been learning about silo structuring sites for SEO. One of my bigger sites has about 50 pages and 8 silos. I was going to leave well enough alone, but now I'm actually researching how big those silos need to be to dominate.

40 more articles are going on the site today, and another 90 have been outsourced already.

Again, my competition isn't going to put in this work. But I am.

Dude, creating a pitch thread to take people to your sig, to build a list, it's a killer plan. And the oldest trick in the book, too.

I know man. In all honesty it wasn't the intent of the thread. But it did kinda turn out that way. If I get a few subscribers, all the better!

Did you read The Talent Code or Outliers? I read the Talent Code and that did seem to be the magic number. I thought it was a pretty good read. The trick was it wasn't just 10,000 hours, but 10,000 quality focused hours. That means the time put in just staring at the screen doesn't count. LOL.

Nice psyche up though...Let's start 2012 right!

"TAKE ACTION" is the first thing everyone tells you and then they leave it at that. I'll add a second part: TRACK EVERYTHING" - It's the only way to ensure your ACTION leads to results.

I have found the hardest part is staying focused. It gets downright boring to build links all the time before you see the success of your labors(or not sometimes).

It is also easy to go way overboard and take on more than is possible to complete. If 3 keywords are great, why not do 40 at one time? I have been guilty of this in the last 2 years. Makes getting any kind of actually success very difficult because there is only so much a single person can do even with automated tools.

I'm very guilty of this myself. For example, I'm building 100 small niche sites, 5 authority sites, planning a 1,500+ page site, launching a blog, and trying to be a good father and husband.

Impossible to do all that in a quality way without a ton on of outsourcing and planning. So one of my big goals for 2012 will be to simplify and focus. Figure out where the best ROI is, where my passions are, and then work on scaling when appropriate.
