What has your experience been with banner advertising on different forums? I was considering getting some banner space on a few forums. Does it work well?

Branding-wise, it's working pretty well. However, it seldom brings me traffic. |

I would agree. Branding wise it's great. If you have your banner on a forum with 100k members then you will be getting your name out there. Just don't expect many click throughs. I also think you have to get your banner design spot on. Something that will stand out and attract attention without being annoying. Greg |

For me it's been a bit of a hit and miss. What I would do is find a web merchant who is getting the traffic you want with top search engine positions, say on the first page, preferably the first 1 to 5 spots on page 1 for your search term. Then approach them about placing a banner ad on their page for a fee (stick to your budget, if it's too expensive simply target another set of keywords). Test out the first month to see if your getting a return on your investment. For me some have paid for themselves and some haven't. Trial and error. It also depends upon the effectiveness of your banner ad too and this is a great way to test it. Good luck. |
