How do I set up an Amazon affiliate site for best results?

Firstly I would like to say hello to all Warrior Forum members. Been reading on the forum for some time and decided to sign up recently.

I'm a newb to IM and interested in promoting Amazon products initially, then later on promoting other products as my skill increases.
I have an understanding about keywords and SEO. Still have a lot to learn though.
I've been reading and researching, so I kind of have the basic structure of how I will go about it.

I would like to know if someone can show a screenshot or provide a link of a successful Amazon niche site so I can get some ideas as to how it should look. I will be using Wordpress for the site. Guess I will have a learning curve like the Eiffel Tower when I get to that point.

What works best, blogs or static websites?
What themes do you use? (I'm interested in static sites but obviously a lot of themes appear like blogs from wordpress.org).
