I your humble opinion how long should someone take to research and gather info regarding online business before actually doing something like... - selecting a net business model: By the way, until you do this, you'll be stuck in research land. - selecting a niche or group of people to market to: ( I mean serve ) By the way, until you do this, you'll be stuck in research land. - Somehow getting the step by step knowledge, tools and resources to help them conduct online business: How long is too long for research etc. ? I've heard ( on this forum ) of people doing research for a year and they still have not made up their mind????? Should I LOL or get be sad with pity? Hope This Helps Get Folks Off The Fence & Taking Action! TL Ps. I vote for 6 weeks or 40 man hours tops. |

I usually spend about 1-2 weeks researching. BUT...for someone with little experience, or it being there first online venture, I think their time is better spent throwing up a website in a niche that interests them and learning hands on. They can do all the research in the world and still won't know where to start. By starting with something that interests them, they will enjoy what they do and not lose interest when money doesn't come flying through the door the first week of being online. Can't beat hands on learning/training. |

I don't like this question. Too long is when you find yourself just buying product after product trying to find the magic button. I say research until you have a grasp of the matter, then take action. It all depends on the person, their niche, and if they want to create or promote a product in the niche. |

Is a year spent researching anything too long?? I'm not talking about creating a ebook, I'm talking about getting started. I'm trying to get people off the fence of in-decision. TL

Without taking action all the research and all the information in the world are worthless. Stop reading and begin applying.

It depends what you already know, and whose lead you're following. If it's a relatively hot topic, and you already know how to use a computer, then it's just a matter of finding the right guide. In other words, the research wouldn't be on the topic, but what to do. You can be up and running on Blogger with AdSense in less than a day, but let's say 2 days - just in case something comes up. If you want people to get off the fence, then a debate over how long is appropriate for research will only bog them down further, IMHO. The real question is... What are you waiting for? The answer is... Forget about whatever you're waiting for and get moving! All the best, Michael |

I agree with many of the above posters. I jumped in with something I was interested in with a very low overhead that allowed me to learn how systems, tactics and strategies work while going through the IMC course INSTEAD OF just reading through it. This costs very little to many (domain, hosting, autoresponder, traffic, site setup) and allowed me to research niches WHILE DOING THIS so I could connect the dots on what would work with what I could find out how to do (i.e.-learn SEO for a niche that didn't have much SEO competition, etc) Best, Scott |

Be careful, and through but do take action. You can set a deadline on anything you do to help move you along. TL |

Preliminary niche research doesn't take long. It could be as simple as... - Go the google.com - put in the keyword related to your passion - if there are at least 6 adwords advertisers on the right-hand side of the page, there's a very good chance there's competition in that niche and it's a worthy niche. But you're right about "hands on training" and not researching forever. TL

I have a new product I'm about to release and it took me about 6 months to research all of the information.
